You know you want it

Would be handy for the busy life style :p

Sweet.

Lol, reminds me of Dead Space.

However, when he was reading products... that made absolutely no sense how it was able to know what the product/book was.

that is so awesome!

i wouldn't want to wear it the whole time though. you'd look a bit of a tard

They need to add some kind of stabilizer algorithm to shift the image so that it doesn't float around as you breath.

Can't exactly say I'm particularly fond of the idea.

If they can master this, I think just popping up info booths instead of phone booths would be more feasible. But I guess the whole purpose is mobility so that wouldn't help much but still, I'd like to see more knowledge available to people for free and IMO 24 hr Info Booths would be more recognizable for those people not tapped into a network of some sorts.

Looks awesome. We still need some advances in battery technology though for this to be a viable, always-available, 'sense'. But the possibilities are endless.

Not very stylish but then it's more of a prototype. I really like the concept though.

Watching porn on people's backs etc. :D

I just imagined the consequences of using the body's energy to somehow run it. "all test subjects dead after 12 hours"

Some major gaps they are unlikely to cross:

1) Image recognition
2) Data collection (Where are they going to find information on any of the things they showed us?)
3) Market acceptance

Do people honestly need help buying groceries? A book? What are some of the conditions people can choose as "personal" requirements? Projections aren't very realistic- brightness, awkward surfaces, and basically anything outdoors are going to be huge issues (considering they'd need an extremely bright projector, and they already have limited battery and bulb life).

I'm not sure why they didn't go with glasses with some kind of LCD technology. You could likely mount the camera on the same device. Hook it into your laptop that sits comfortably in your bookbag, and voila.

Why is shit like this always laggy and slow as ****.

****.

Can we maybe just ****ing slow down so we can get the processors in these portable devices up to speed to cope with this technology.

If everything ran smoothly, there wouldn't be any reason to develop faster, smaller technology, would there?

Stuff like this (and most stuff on TED) is really, really cool. Though, I always have this overwhelming doubt about anything featured will be used in the near future. It sure is interesting to wonder though...

What do you mean? There is no existing device that does what this devices does. (including be all conveniently portable and shit) This isn't a smaller and faster version of anything that already exists.

Gimmicks, people buy all the other crap on the market don't they.

So... they make smaller and faster versions later? Gotta start somewhere, no point waiting if people are going to buy it now.
