When you are a CT you are wearing a long sleeve shirt but when you are moving around in first person mode you have gloves.. like you have the terrist skin. all of the arms are the same.. i know it's not a big problem but yeah I noticed it. From the screen shot's and stuff I saw it.

That is all part of the weapon models. To change that is to redo all models and have weapon models for every player model...that is if you want the colors and everything to be right also. (ex green sleeves for SEAL team and blue for SAS)

this has been around since original cs ..
well I started playing when 1.5 came out so I can only say it ws there since 1.5

I guess that graphics back then were too stupid for anybody to even care?

Yeah they will probly fix it when cs 2 comes out.. maybe

The CT you play is cooler than all the other CTs and he pulls his sleeves up. Sheesh, its so obvious ;)

Fixing this would be quite alot of work, they would have to re-do each model for each player skins.
But that doesn't matter much, the big problem is that it would require you to load all the models into the ram, and I'm guessing it'd use about 300-600mb more ram to load all models with different armskins.

This is true... our HL1 mod has like 50 weapons or something, and 4 teams with about 7-10 models on each team.

Each day we dread the moment that we will simply no longer be able to load the game. It's possible that Source doesn't precache weapons that are not used in the map or something, but for HL1 mods at least, it loads them whether they will be used or not.

Remember Perfect Dark for the N64?

That game had like a 100 different player models to chose from and when you were in first person they all had the corosponding arms.......so would it really be that hard?

One thing I noticed they fixed is they have two models for the USP and the M4a1, one with silencer and one without........at least thats what i saw

I dont get why it would take so much space to do, you dont have to redo the guns, just reskin the hands to correspond, dont seem hard work to me.

The game treats the arms + weapon models as one file, so if you just change a fingernail or two, you're still going to load the model-file twice, which takes up twice the amount of ram.

there needs to be a system for the dynamic switching of skins- then all you have in memory is one model, and 8 .bmp's

well the source engine is spsoed to compete with all the next gen games like doom 3 and farcry, but there are some bits weakened in the source for me.

I do prefer it because rather than lookin vivid and shiny and polishe,d it has a rough feel to it.. but too rough, ie the textures look good, but up clsoe they look like standard cs textures even on high settings... and the maps is the biggest issue for me, they look great, but it still looks like it was created for cs 1.6 :D .. ie everythings still blocky, look at the arch ways on dust, still square, the curve on the famas too...

been waiting for so long, expected a lil tiny bit more :D

biggest thing they have goin for em is the physics :), but even that has its flaws as there must be alimit, ie irl 99% of them walls would crumbles if u chucked a grenade at them... so its not THAT realistic really :D

There is .. even in HL1 .. hell there is a system for model parts.

in HL1, all the scientist models were put in the same files, they had the same bodies, only thier heads were different.

They should just make hand models and gun models seperate. That way I can play with pink nailpolish for once. Gowd i've been waiting for this since the first CS beta!

sarcasm meter = up the roof

Animating seperate guns and arms is very very hard.. I know, because the game I'm working on is doing that. It's a lot more work for the animators, and it doesn't look as good.
