Seriously, this is getting stupid.

After a major major hang whilst browsing the internet (2 mozilla windows open, 2 Microsoft Word Windows open) I restarted my PC. It ran Chkdsk (or at least, I assume it was Chkdsk - you know, blue screen, checking security verifiers, recovering orphaned files etc.) to completion, and then restarted the computer.

Now I can't access Windows at all. It BSOD's a mere second after the loading screen starts, and the system auto-reboots. Neither can I get into Windows through any of the safe modes - auto-reboot. I have an assignment on the PC due in a few days, not to mention a couple of artworks i'm working on atm, and I really want to get into the system so at the very very least I can back up all my crap before the ****ing thing explodes.

Can anyone at all help me?

We need some more info if you want help from us.

- What OS?
- What hardware? - is there a raid setup or something that could cause trouble?
- What have you tried already?
- Is there a chance to scan the system for a virus without starting it?

Some possibilities to fix it without further info:

- Run safe mode and see if it still works - this might show that it's not windows that's crashing, but a program starting up. But that's just an assumption.
- Try to hit F8 while booting and choose "Last known good" configureation, if that fails
- Try to run a repair installation

Download Ultimate Boot CD, burn it on to a CD and have it in the drive upon boot (make sure your CD/DVD drive is set in BIOS as the first boot device). Then choose a HDD diagnostic program and run it.

Temporarily solved... stuck the Windows XP CD into the drive, set BIOS boot order to boot from CD first, ran chkdsk fully again using the Recovery console, computer seems to work ok now.

Backing up all my stuffs.

Wow, i have the same problem.

Windows XP Pro
FX 55
7800 GTX
512x2 2.2.2.5

A shit load of harddrives.

Anyway my computer crashed while playing BioShock. Screen turns black computer sits there. I restart gets to the screen where its checking all the files, then gets to the windows loading screen restarts. Repeat...

SO ya 1st time this happened when it was checking the files it fixed them i rebooted it worked. Starting playing Bioshock again it crashed shortly after this time its not fixing itself.

While it was fixing the files this is some of the stuff i saw.

Stop: C00002218 BAD image checksum
The image wintrust.dll is possibly corrypt.
The header checksuim does not match the completed checksum

Just a lot of shit like this.

I really want this fixed!!!!!

Any info!!!!

Btw, i already ran checkdsk and it said it fixed it but its still doing the same restart on windows loading screen.

Try this?

Or maybe use another PC to grab wintrust.dll and put it on the hard drive (C:\windows\system32).

When using the recovery console, use CHKDSK /c /p which is the full scan mode, I believe.

Tryed that, it said it fixed it but when i reboot its just restarts at the loading screen everytime.

Going to try the Ultimate boot cd when i get home.

Did you try that other weird command starting with f? I heard if ****s up your segments though, so I'm not to sure. I didn't use it.

Alright i just started the Ultimate boot cd and when i look at my drives the letters are all ****ed up now. Like my C drive which was windows is now D and my raptor is C wth? Another thing is i cant get into the D drive it just says some bullshit. Man i would just reinstall but i want to recover some files. Like my Bioshock saves and some pics. Btw where are the bioshock saves?

You could just reinstall windows over your current installion (Not a clean install, a dirty install). Then backup what you want and do a clean install.

I had this problem happen to me, and I just did a 'dirty' install and went on my merry little way

I had the same problem a few years ago. Turns out it was a Sasser virus. After repeated failed attempts, I had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows. :(

What do you mean? How do i go about doing that?

Anyway i fixed the letter problem UBCD was reading it as what sata slot i had it on my mobo.

Anyway im finilly got into the drive with a data recovery program in UBCD and its serching for lost files now. Hope i get my files back!

But any info would still be leet!

EDIT! /update

So im using UBCD and the recovery software it comes with. For some reason the shit i need is the only stuff i cant get into on my drive. I can do all program files but i cant get into the desktop files and my document files. Why!?

What kind of crash causes those files to go? Wth happen?

Bit slow on the uptake here, but what does wintrust.dll do?

edit: n/m I just reread and realised that you picked it out as the possible sopurce of Asuka's error.
