-Once Upon a Time in the West: the scene where the girl says "I hope you'll come back someday" Bronson replies with "Someday" then exits the house and that really sad song in the background just hightens the emotion, really nice ending.

-The Magnificent Seven: The scene where they meet the bandits for the first time and Yul Brynner says "Solving your problems isn't our line" then Steve Mcqueen says "We deal in lead, friend."

-Gladiator: Maximus' identity reveal to Commodus. Nuff said.

-Gladiator: Maximus get's on the horse acting as General and all the men start acting like soldiers to survive with the great music in the background playing.

-Gladiator: Maximus fights Tigras of Gaul in the colloseum.

-Minority Report: Tom Cruise is in the mall and the girl tells him to do a bunch of crazy stuff that actually ends up helping them escape.

-The Crow: The whole movie.

-Troy: Achilles and Hector fight.

This scene is just brilliant from “A few good men"

This court room speech from Jack Nicholson.
You can't handle the truth!

Son, we live in a world that has walls.
And those walls have to be guarded by men
with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You,
Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater
responsibility than you can possibly
fathom. You weep for Santiago and you
curse the marines. You have that luxury.
You have the luxury of not knowing what I
know: That Santiago's death, while tragic,
probably saved lives. And my existence,
while grotesque and incomprehensible to
you, saves lives.
You don't want the truth. Because deep
down, in places you don't talk about at
parties, you want me on that wall. You me
there
We use words like honor, code,
loyalty...we use these words as the
backbone to a life spent defending
something. You use 'em as a punchline.
I have neither the time nor the
inclination to explain myself to a man who
rises and sleeps under the blanket of the
very freedom I provide, then questions the
manner in which I provide it. I'd prefer
you just said thank you and went on your
way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a
weapon and stand a post. Either way, I
don't give a damn what you think you're
entitled to.

Edit, upon reflection other classic scenes include.

Ripley rescues the marines, "Aliens"
The opening scene to “Full Metal jacket” where the Drill Sergeant intrudes himself to the new recruits.
The night club scene with Joe Pesci in “Goodfellas”...."Am I here to amuse you?”
Steve Martin in "Trains, Planes and Automobiles" firing into the car rental receptionist.

Jurassic Park - kitchen.

The Truman Show, when he tries to escape by car, and just the whole ending sequence including the storm and the wall.

The Matrix - hell, just about every scene is awesome.

Gladiator beginning battle.

El Mariachi - the final showdown where they all walk away.

28 Days Later - Frank's death. It was so unexpectedly emotional.

Apocalypse Now beach attack. DA DA DA DAAAAAAA DAAAAAAA

Alien 3 - the very end, where everything gets locked up, and the very very beginning. The rest was crap.

mumbling milton with his red swingline stapler

Star Wars - Every opening sequence.
Indiana Jones 1 - The boulder chase.
The Longest Day - Everything.
A Few Good Men - Court room.

A Bridge Too Far - Cut off from the rest of the forces. pinned down by artillery fire, the wounded American and British infantry sit in wait for death, singing the hymn ''Abide With Me'' as German infantry soldiers cross the small river, rifles in hand. Really moved me.

umm. I'll add later.

Probably a bunch of spoilers here and there.

Heat - The bank scene and the shootout on the streets.

Saving Private Ryan - The whole D-Day landing scene, when they encounter the German SdKfz 251 halftrack and when Pvt. Jackson snipe Germans from the church.

Full Metal Jacket (my favourite movie ever btw :)) - Too many scenes to include here, but here are some: When Hartman introduces himself in the beginning, when Pyle kills Hartman and himself, when the guys talk to the news reporter with ‘Surfin’ Bird’ playing in the background, when they encounter the Vietnamese sniper in the building and the whole ‘Shoot me!’ scene.

The Matrix - The whole lobby scene and when Neo, a.k.a. Mr. Anderson, gets shot in the chest by Agent Smith.

Bullitt - The classic car chasing, God I love that part of the movie.

The Thing- When Norris gets mutilated, the whole dog scene and when MacReady kills the beast at the end of the movie.

Marathon Man - The torture scene, when Hess visits the Jewish part of the city and when Hoffman gets captured.

Star Wars Episode I - The whole pod race and when Obi and Qui-Gon battles Darth Maul.

The Untouchables - The intro with the cool music, when Jim gets killed in his apartment, when Frank gets thrown out from the rooftop by Ness and the elevator scene (very sad scene imo).

Green Mile: the whole execution part with John (big black guy) and basically the whole movie.
Black Hawk Down: the ending part, so emotional.
The Good Girl: the whole movie was an emotion masterpiece.

Serenity- Wash's Unexpected Demise, that was so emotional for me :(

Super Troopers- Ramathorn and the Rookie pull the German couple over :D

Black Hawk Down- At the end, the Commander cleans the blood off the floor with a cloth in the surgery room

Saving Private Ryan- The medic dies slowly, and evrybody gets pissed off at the only German Soldier Alive, excellent piece of acting

Xmen2- Jean sacrifices herself for the rest of the crew

The movie friday after next when the getto santa is fighting krag and eating a sandwich

Leon - At the end with the grenade pin. Classic.
The Big Lebowski - Dream sequences with "Bob Dylan - The Man In Me" in the background.
Cliffhanger - When the woman's thinger snaps and Stallone is holding her up with 1 hand.
Rocky - The end of the fights in 1, 2 and 4.
The Matrix - Neo dodging the bullets on the rooftop, and also holding the rope that lets Trinity swing from the chopper.
Twelve Monkeys - When Brad Pitt is going mental in the asylum.
Fight Club - At the end when the buildings are collapsing and the "Pixies - Where is my mind" is playing in the background.

Matrix- the whole movie (and the first time we saw "bullet time"
meet the feebles- when the lizard puppet describes Vietnam
dead alive (aka braindead)- the lawnmower scene (need i say more?)
full metal jacket- when that a**hole drill instructor gets killed (deserved it IMO)
evil dead 1- when you realize the zombie blood is changing colors
star wars episode 3- when darth vader thinks padme is dead (i laugh my a** off every time)
clerks- when dante dies in the end (alternate ending)

Boondock Saints

Where the 1st cop (can't remember his name) is trying to explain what happened to the 2 dead guys.

"So there's this HUGE friggin guy, that sits on this other guy.....
Where's he goin'? No-where. Where you goin'? NO-WHEEERRREEE?" etc

Rocko, after he kills some guys and gets back to his house and his mates & missus are there

"YOU! Shut your f**ken mouth. I cant buy a pack of ciggarettes without running into ten guys you've f**ked."

Classic stuff

A very feeble, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!" :|

The first scene of Texas Chainsaw Massacre(the original)--just the noise of a grave being exhumed then the flashes of a camera and the gradual reveal of the bones on the marker. Truly disturbing.

Last scene of Texas Chainsaw Massacre(the original)--a crazed Leatherface dancing a waltz of despair with his one true love, his chainsaw. Extremely disturbing then it just cuts abruptly to black. So so effective. The whole movie really unnerves the viewer from beginning to end.

the acid house: the shit fly scene (you'll know if you've seen it)

trainspotting: Spud's job interview

Man Bites Dog: the birthday party scene where a character gets shot point blank for laughing too hard, the scene where he kills the senoir citizen by screaming at her

Reservoir dogs: Harvey Kietel shooting up the cops, restuarant scene discussing tipping

A fistfull of Dollars: Clint takes out 5-6 guys without reloading

Casablanca: every scene

Bladerunner: Leon interview, opening monologue, the chase throught the glass windows, the fight with Pris, Roy Batty's speech at the end

I could do this all day, too many great scenes out there

Oh, one of my favorite movies!

I thought another good scene in it was where he killed the kid after looking for him for a long time - it was just disturbing

Also, the rape scene in there

And the last scene, the very end, wonderfully done

I'm surprised you watched it ..cuz it's in french with subtitles ..plus it's hard to find

They put out the Criterion Collection version, and I took French for almost 10 years before getting into college, besides, I love subtitled stuff

Oh, that and the fact that the movie is awesome

the scene where roy dies in blade runner (the directors cut, obviously)

'all these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. time to die.'

his best role ever ..I actually felt sorry for him

In the begining of Amelie, when the narrator is going through the "What people are doing" thing. Love it, I do.

I loved that movie ..take that over a hollywood blockbuster anyday

The bit in One Hour Photo where he goes into their house.

And the groans in the cinema after it. :D

The ending to Taxi Driver is always a favourite as well. ;)

Have you read the book Stern? :)

I have a ton of these too, but fresh in my mind (from watching too much TV) are in both Spider-man movies, at the end, when you see Spidey swinging along to a grand orchastral score. That was something to behold in the cinema.

Dog Day Afternoon, when Al Pacino first steps outside of the bank, and gets the crowd on his side.

All of Apocalypse Now :E

Marabou Stork Nightmares
Filth
Ecstasy
trainspotting

disturbing (occasionally funny) stuff ..definately not for the weak hearted

the final battle in "glory"

kingdom of heaven (the siege of jerusalem)

many of the roundtable meetings in dr. strangelove were hysterical and very memorable

much of the empire strikes back

return of the king, when rohan shows up

Indeed. This was one of the most powerful and thought-provoking books I have ever read. The movie was pretty good, but the copy I watched was really poor quality. I'd like to see it restored for DVD someday soon, esp. given the state of the world today....

Also, the final scene from Carpenter's The Thing--an incredibly cool way to end it.

Good lad. :)

Well, let's see here, there's quite a few:

Tae Guk Gi:
-When they are first sent to the trenches. The younger brother doesn't know what's going on, and the older brother watches out for him.
-The scene involving a rock and the generals head.
-The end of the movie... when he's an old man.... oh man.

12 Monkeys:
-When he is sent back to World War 1.
-The ending scene when she is frantically searching for his younger self in the crowd.

Boondock Saints:
-When Roc is on the phone and hangs up. "Catch you on the flip side." He just stepped into a "Zone." His zone. And the following scene is just godlike to me. When he walks up to the guys sitting down, he pulls his coat out, and shoots one of them through it. And then goes over to the bartender. "FUNNY! FUNNY! FUNNY!"

Leon: The Professional:
-Any scene involving Leon's plant, or Leon drinking milk.
-When they pronounce their love to eachother. It's kind of sick, but they're both ****ed up people. So it somehow makes me feel happy for them.
-Just how good Leon is at what he does...

Queen of the Damned:
-The whole rock concert scene.

Gladiator:
-His death.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels:
-The shootout where just about everyone is killed.
-"That was the Bren gun!" - I laughed for weeks at that.
-When Soap is attempting to dump the shotguns while everyone else if frantically trying to cell him.

El Mariachi:
-The chase scene in which the Mariachi guns down a few of his chasers.

I'll post more later.

The end monologue in American Beauty.

The truth in Oldboy blew my mind.

The last half hour of Kill Bill 2.

Jules in the Diner in Pulp Fiction.

Final battle in Seven Samurai.

Battle of Helms Deep in LOTR: The Two Towers.
