for my son: Nintendo DS, Kirby's squeek squad, Diddy Kong racing, Dogs and Cats

for my in-laws: Wii, yes my wife's parents have mentioned they thought about getting a wii (I saw pigs flying the other day) ..dont know if I need to get a second controller ..may get wii play or something else? they're in their late 50's and mid 60's

for the wife: cant get her into playing games (well not of the video game variety :naughty: ) ..I mean she enjoyed lego star wars but not enough to pick it up on her own ..thought about getting guitar hero but she might be meh about rocking out

for self: probably just Mass effect as my video game plate is overly full atm ..maybe a new pc case

I'd get them Wii Play since the games are alright and you get another controller with it.

For me, I fancy the new Ratchet and Clank game, but I think I'll have to buy it myself before Christmas day to get a chance to play it all before I return to uni. I also have Resi 4 for the Wii to crack on with as I didn't want to ruin my exams by getting absorbed in a game.

There's no young people in the family. I usually get my brother video games, but he's getting an Ipod, and the gf is getting this bag she wanted that cost so much I want to eat my own face. One of my mates is getting some Mario related plush toys, which is as close as it gets this year.

I like your plan of getting a DS for your 'son' and a Wii for the 'in-laws'. It's like that time I got my grandma a skatedoard It's well worth getting Wii Play and you should get Galaxy for when you steal the Wii back - it will melt your gaming heart :thumbs:

oh oh grandma didnt like the skateboard I gave her last christmas (probably cuz she's dead) ..actually the Wii was my wife's idea ..I didnt think their interest would be sustained for more than a month or so ..expensive toy if it only lasts a month before being shelved ... IF I can even find one ..sall sold out everywhere in my area


the ds well my son has been asking for it for awhile now and my wife has said she'd like to play brain age which is :O to say the least

btw should I get an extra wii-mote and nunchuck for the in laws or is one good enough?

I don't have a game list, as don't own any new consoles (yet) and have all the PC games I wanted. I did get my girlfriend the Zelda DS lite though, so I guess we'll have fun with that. I mostly want a couple hardware upgrades for my PC, but nothing too major.

Given that the Wii comes with WiiSports at the very least, an extra one would definitely be a solid idea.

For me, I've asked for Mass Effect and Project Gotham Racing 4.

For my brother, he has said he's interested in Tiger Woods '08 (and he's told me he knows of the glitches and gameplay flaws). Since he's a big golfer, I'll most likely pick this one up for him.

As for my dad, my brother wanted to get him Guitar Hero III, but I don't know if he'd be interested seeing as he has a REAL guitar.

I should've waited to sell my Wii. I sold it 2-3 months ago for $300 (with COD3, Zelda, and two Wiimotes) when they're going for $400-450 on Ebay right now.

One thing I'm definitely getting for my dad is Rome: Total War. He's an Imperium Romanum aficionado, so... it'll tickle his fancy :]

For me and my brother, we preordered the superior Gears of War PC Collector's Edition. You know, the one with more bang for your buck.

Rest of the family doesn't play much. We're getting them something normal :]

Actually yesterday I found Perfect Dark Zero for $10 (new) at Target, so I bought that since I didn't bother with it when it was first released.

I requested Resident Evil : UC with 2 Wii Zappers and MoH:Heros 2 for the Wii.
