Just for fun and speculation, what components are going to be included in your next generation gaming system?

I don't want to spend too much money so I'll have to go with the following setup.

Intel Conroe Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz
ATi Radeon X1900XTX (maybe a CrossFire system later)
2GB DDR2 (cheap but decent ones)
Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic (buying it next week)

The only weak part on my system would be the graphics card, it's currently the best but by the time I buy it it'll be 6 months old. The CPU will however last atleast a good 3-4 years aswell as the soundcard so you can spend some more money on a CPU and soundcard as these last long and don't require the constant upgrades as a graphics card does.

This PC will however give great performance in any game, I think the CPU will be enough to get the most out of the X1900XTX :D

I need another gig of RAM for a total of 2 and then a DX10 compatible gpu and I will be set. I have a 3.6ghz p4 already, so once I combine these items, I should be swinging to the sweet sounds of Crysis in no time!:D

New mobo with Pci-e and Sli
Intel/AMD 4GHtz
directX10 complaint graphics card
2-3Gb RAM
5.1 surround sound capable sound card

Intel P4 3,6Ghz is'nt very fast and I doubt your CPU will fully handle a DX10 card.

To be real honost, I don't think 2gb is really that good. Considering the Vista Pro pack requires... 1gb RAM.

I would be talking 3-4gb but if you have lots of spare slots, I can't see anything wrong with starting off on 2gb.

2GB is far from todays standard, 1GB is what most people use. And Im sure 2GB is enough to run games on Vista.

If you want to save some money and if you plan on upgrading again why not get something that cost less such as a lower X1900 model or 7900GT? They would handle the games out now and soon to come pretty easy.

Get a 3800+ dual core. Cheap, effective, overclockable.

I'm waiting for a second or maybe third generation dx10 card and at least wait for Vista to be out a year before I buy it.

It'll be a while before I can/will/afford a CPU upgrade though.

I feel sorry for you, not being able to play Crysis on your own PC atleast :/

Not at all. You go jump head first into the deep end. Crysis won't be that good.

Meh, if things stay the way they are i'm going to keep my average system till the day I die.

There are people who are happy with their yellow, rusty average car, but there are also people who are happy with their supercharged mustang.
