Yes tyhank you Valve,

It's Saturday night, I'm semi-drunk and you tell me this. Naturally I follow your link and update my Radeon drivers and guess what... they're shit!!

Please don't send us any more 'helpful' messages through your fantastic system that monitores just what we're up to. I'm a few choice words, please keep out of my OS and drivers, they are my business and not yours.

Jon

Maybe I should revise my post...

Valve may send you a message through the Steam system 'please update your video drivers'.

If you are unsure whether to do so or are slightly tipsy so please consider whther the driver you are about to install will improve or degrade your system performance. If the result proves to be negative then please roll back your version of video drivers and ignore the forementioned message, and do not mention this to anyone.

Until then, please continue to ignore the poor performance of HL2 on your system.

Thank you.

Yes well done, but why 'inform' us that the drivers are out of date in the first place... why not spend development time on fixing the stuttering that plagues HL2?

Its a simple check, it doesnt take any development time to implemet this. Also, plz die.

For 90% of users this is a good feature, since not everyone knows when to update their drivers.

It has nothing to do with that... It's a simple check to help people know when to update their drivers. Which updating may or may not fix issues. Also, not all problems are fixable with patches to the game. Thats why there are driver updates for your video card, to fix these other updates. Read a damn driver change log sometime.

BTW: For alot of people the studder bug was fixed months ago. I, on the other hand, never had this problem.

Wow, been a while since I've heard of anyone having the stutter bug, maybe it's your computer. No wait, it's definately your computer.

I think he was just rehashing that old problem to try and add some water to his shallow argument.

What is stuttering? (See specs and that's why I say that)
Wow... a spec splurge post... how lame.
BTW: Your attempt at "Make Money Using Google" sig has failed.

Also plz die? What does that mean? Don't complain otherwise legions of fanboys will slap you one.

Tkx m8, uv been a gr8 help. Or whatever language you kids type in.

Tosser.

Another pervert...why do they come here?

Hmmm.... I thought I had the latest drivers from ATI but that's when the stuttering got worse, I've seen a post that there are now new new drivers so I'll give those a try. If the stuttering is definitely fixed for others then I'll finally stop whinging.

BTW what Radeon drivers are other people using??

I think there is only 1 type of radeon drivers, just differs with what operating system you are using.

The last time I updated my drivers to the latest ATI Catalyst my FPS crumbled in CSS. It wasn't bad or anything just that movement seem delayed and was running at around 20-30FPS. I then found out that the drivers automatically turned on AA. I tried to find the setting to turn it off but couldn't find it so I changed to the Omega drivers.

I'll try Catalyst 5.8 as I've seen posts saying it's out. I do have control over AA and anisotropic filtering under the current drivers but HL2 isn't the only 3d app that's stuttering now. Hmmmmm

Nope, ltatest drivers are still bad, thanks for the 'help' Valve.
