You're reviewing Lair wrong, says Sony

Can you get any more retarded?

That picture of Greg Miller is absolutly priceless.

BUT, this is a joke. This is what happens when your arrogance gets out of control. I, so far, regret buying this console and renting this game.

NOTE TO SONY: You cannot, any longer, build/develope any piece crap and expect people to buy it....further charge ridiculous prices.

Sony can't do anything these days without hitting new lows. Not so long ago, Someone at Sony HQ edited the Halo3 wikipedia page, and added something like 'but it wont be any better than halo 2' ...

I'm starting to think Sony should just pack up and go home.

it's a shame cause Lair looked like it could of been a lot of fun.

Ah well.

You can't blame them from telling the truth :p

I think it was 'it won't look any better than Halo 2'. It's not really fair to blame the company as a whole for that as it was probably the work of a few guys. It still smacks of desperation and is another blunder to add to the growing list.

Yeah, this is extremely pitiful. Still, the game looks gorgeous and is at least worth a rental just to see how much the controls actually bring the game down.

The first time I heard about this I kind of thought it was funny, but after I thought about it I realized just how revealing it was. It just goes to show exactly what games are to these companies. 9 out of 10 times, it's all about how it looks...how it plays is a distant second.

MS seems to have gotten away with it thus far and to be fair, their price point is what gives them a bit of a pass. But Sony...oh boy...they're in trouble. Better get with it...a visually stunning turd is NOT going to cut it. Sure Lair looks terrific, but, my exact words like 5 minutes into the game were "this is f**king aweful". Turned it off and returned the game to Blockbuster. Whatever....

/end rant.

Hahaha, oh Sony... How low can you go?

I wonder what will happen if Heavenly Sword gets the same treatment, or Uncharted. Those are supposed to be the major "hits" on the PS3 this year and supposed to drive holiday sales.

Unless Killzone 2 turns out to be Sony's "Halo" in that it sells a shit-load of consoles, I think that 2008 could be the year people just officially give up on the PS3, including developers. Let's hope Sony gets it right and restructures itself for the PS4, or just gives up and realizes that it ain't the king anymore.

how are supoosed to be controls and gameplay?

I know...these things are very challenging.

I'm to the point now where I feel I have a nice Blu-ray player that just so happens to play some games when I feel inclined. :frown:

I've seen some pretty mediocre reviews for Heavenly Sword.

heavenly sword was dissapointing I've heard, not to the extent of lair mind.

Only reason I would ever in my right mind buy a PS3, would be for LittleBigPlanet

Only reason I might get one anymore is MGS4.

As lifelong sony fan I am so dissapointed in them. atleast I'm not blind enough to spend that amount of money for the sake of it being sony I suppose.

Makes me appreciate my PC that little more. Can't wait till Crysis is released :D

The Getaway, Gran Turismo 5 (or 6), LittleBigPlanet and 'Home' are the only viable reasons to consider bending over and letting Sony go to town on your anus.

The Getaway and Gran Turismo don't interest me. MGS4, the next Ico team project (which is apparently being announced very soon), Little Big Planet, FF13, the new Time Crisis do, though :)

If they would ever reduce the price in the UK then yes. It's still $850 equivalent here. ;(

It gets better :)

From the reviewers guide:

Nice to see as much effort was put into this as the full game.

"Dummy text, add new medium dragon txt here,"
A little unfinished with the guide ic.

"You're doing it wrong." hehe

Now, would you buy a PS3 for $400?

Still no. And anyone who gets an expensive ass console system because of one game is an idiot imo. HURRR I payed $500 for a video game HURRRRRR

I can't do another MGS or FF game. I don't know...MAYBE FF, but I've had enough of MGS. The best MG game released out of the past several has been Metal Gear Acid, IMO. Further, I firmly believe that both of these games will be on the 360 mere months after their initial release for the PS3....I'm convinced of this.

The next team ICO project definitly has me interested, whatever they decide on. Definitly Little Big Planet (which I heard may be on the Wii also).

If it weren't for a few games, that won't be anywhere else, that still interest me, this thing would be gone. I'd have it up on EBay today. :frown:

Where is this review guide? And after watching the video on that page, it seems that a lot of reviewers have gone a bit eccentric with their movement actions and thus had problems controlling the dragon. But I own neither a PS3 nor the game, so I guess I'm not really allowed to comment on that :p

Games should be intuitive and easy to pick up. If it takes a number of pages from a 'how to review this game' booklet to grasp the controls it is a failing on the developer's part.

I don't see how. Whoever was fumbling the controller around in that first shot was clearly being deliberately bad, like it assumed everybody prior to watching was retarded. But it still seemed incredibly loose and unresponsive when they displayed the "correct" way to play. And if you're getting into more frenetic action, things are just gonna **** up.

Besides, isn't this sort of beside the point? Controls should be intuitive. When you need to release a guide to reviewers who all consistently derided the control scheme, then the developer has clearly messed up on their end, either with something inherently in the controls or not communicating them clearly enough to the player.

Using innovative controls just because it's innovative while it's detrimental to the gameplay = retarded. Innovation first and foremost should serve gameplay, it should always provide a benefit or added value. This clearly doesn't, even if it's sort of playable after reading the guide, it's not in any way better than it would be with plain analog control.

sony probably said: You are reviewing it wrong! You are not supposed to give our games low scores
