OK. I've boiled down my choices to two Zalman fans for my new CPU. There isn't much out there in terms of reference for direct comparison.
Here they are:
CNPS 7700-cu
Pros:
120mm fan
Quieter than 9500
Standard construction: fan goes straight onto core
Cons:
Weighs ~1kg
Fan runs at lower RPM
Smaller dissipation area
Lower (although not listed) CFM rating
CNPS 9500-cu
Pros:
Higher CFM rating
Weighs ~530g
Larger dissipation area
Fan runs at higher RPM
Cons:
Fan does not blow directly onto core; it redirects air (see pic below)
92mm fan
Slightly more expensive
The main thing that stays me from buying the 9500 is the way the air goes. Does this method work as well as the usual?
Help appreciated.
