I've got a Zen Xtra (30gb). It's not the same thing, but Creative did a decent job of making it easy to use in a Windows environment. Can't say the same about the iPod.

Using the iPod in Windows is extremely simple with iTunes.
Dunno much about the Zen.

Go for the cheaper one, don't let Apple rip you off with an inferior product. Plus, iTunes is pretty much crappy Mac'ish software.

Creative Touch 20gb, same as an Ipod but without the Apple price tag.

I have the same thing, and I love it. I bought it used, but it's still great.

iTunes is amazing. I used to be all about WinAmp, then I tried iTunes, and it automatically sorted all my music into artist>album (I always edit ID3 tags when I download an MP3 so I didn't have to do anywork at all) and even sorts the albums by track order, not alphabetically, which is awesome. Also, if a band has "The" at the beginning of their name, it sorts it by the next word. Handy as hell for someone who has a crap load of music, I love it.

I normally delete the ID3 tags because it changes the name of the song in winamp. Like the filename could be Bob Dylan - Hurricane.mp3, but the ID3 could have Britney Spears - Hit Me Baby One More Time, and that's what winamp would read, annoying.

seriously get the sen micro dont by mac rubbish u hav to fork out a massive sum to get a replacement battery when the one in the ipod goes u can get a much cheaper replacement li-ion rechargeable battery for the sen which lasts for ages and costs half the price for a new one. Also the zen has a much better sound quality and comes with CreativeEAX built in. Also comes with radio and just dont go for the ipod dont b a sheep. Do ur homework before u buy wait a bit for the zens to come down a bit in Australia they are still marginally expensive compared to the ipod but only because they are like a month old here.

iPods are incredible. Zen flat out copied them in their design - that has to say something.

Plus, the iPod is one of the sleekest and generally best-designed gadgets that I have ever owned.

Finally - getting the iPod isn't about being a sheep - it's about getting a good product.

Sorry, iPods are poorer quality and more expensive than most other brands.
"But Punisher! It goes with iTunes"
Oh that's great! It must match your iShorts, iShirt and iTV. What? You don't have those? How $50 crap iEarbuds? No? Ummm, $60 FM attatchment? Hmmm. Maybe the $30 gel cases!

Uh-oh! here come the iFanBoys!!!

Forgot to mention:
Yes all the other companies have ripoffs, the sad thing is they're better! And no FairPlay crap either.

I actually use iTunes for all my music needs, but I've had to help three seperate people troubleshoot their system so they could get iPods working correctly with iTunes. Once we solved the problem it was fine, but certainly annoying beforehand.

Just get a portable cd player...
10 bucks, just as good

Not unless you have a very large CD. :D
I use mine as a portable HD too, since I don't have close to 30gb of music.
But other than the weight issue, I have to agree with you when it comes to the little micro players.

I'm loving my zen touch. I did lose the device from windows for a bit, but seeing as the same goes for my mouse and dvd drive, I'm blaming my severely dodgy version of windows :)

As far as I'm concerned, battery life did it. 24 hours! Wooo! Plus, I don't have to buy a new battery in 12 months.

i've used itunes before i got my ipod, does what i need to do. Got the ipod because i got a staff discount, plus the contact organizer and calender program are nice. Could have went with zen micro, but its look just didnt apeal to me. i didnt like the button layout. and the fm tuner and voice recorder have no use for me.

didnt like the headphones, hate ear buds. ended up buying a pair of sennheiser pmx 60's.

also the acc encoding is alot nicer sounding than mp3

It should be Zen Touch Vs Ipod. The Micro is pretty old isn't it?

I've got a Touch, it's a very good player with awesome sound.
