You may remember brought you the first news on Zeno Clash back in January, an action / fighting game made on the Source engine which looks really promising and fun. Developers ACE team will be releasing the game via Steam in April for just $20![br]Andres Bordeu from ACE team has kindly provided an interesting update on Zeno Clash's development
In regards to the game?s development I would like to announce that Zeno Clash will include a new Survival Mode with a friends ranking system. The Survival Mode features several challenges where the player will have to defeat all opponents to climb through levels. Players will be ranked by performance and speed and they can compare their scores against friends through a leaderboard. We took in consideration the feedback we were getting from the community and decided Zeno Clash needed a game mode with a competitive component where the players could enjoy the fun of the combat mechanics without having to go through the single player campaign again.
A really promising game on the Source engine, if only we could see some more of the combat mechanics from the developers. Luckily ACE team have provided...just that! (see below). Keep up to date on the Zeno Clash website.[br]

This is going to be a blast to play.

This game has some of the coolest, most unique art direction I've ever seen. The combat looks like fun. Will definitely be picking this up.

Game looks really unique and pretty damn cool. The fighting style reminds me of Dark Messiah.

This game gets more pity ****s than a fat girl at the prom after party. This game looks down right terrible.

I like the fish guns.

Though a gun that shoots fish would make this an insta-purchase.

looks really weird...it could go either way, I hope they release a demo so we can try some before buying.

Hey, maybe if you keep reminding us that this looks awful we'll actually start believing it!

Maybe if everyone suddenly acquired a decent taste in gaming, they'd already believe it.

I think the art direction is awesome, but the gameplay--more specifically, combat--looks a tad disconnected.

Aren't most of us here because we play Valve games and last time I checked they were pretty decent...
Anyway everyone is saying that this game "looks" good, not that it is good. Who knows how it will play, it maybe a disjointed load of repetitive crap for all we know but basing on "looks" it "looks" pretty cool.

Same feeling. The characters and levels are amazing looking. Regarding the gameplay though, I think first-person meelee combat just never works right. So many mods throughout history have tried to do it, plus even mainstream games like Jedi Knight.

Here the stuns look like they'd be annoying in multiplayer. As in, once you get stunned, you're doomed because of how long you're incapacitated. I hope they shorten that period once they get some real playtesting involved.

That trailer did nothing but seal my desire to never ever EVER! play that game....EVER!!!!

Definately sounds like a game you either hate or love. I think i will be on the love side. :D

Love the wonderfully weird setting and art direction. Good to see someone bring some imagination, and not just "bulky marine with huge gun number 12385382413"...

I fail to see how this is different from any other game that involves ragdolls and physics. Yay the character fall over when they hit each other. Yay different attacks cause different reactions. Whoop-dee-doo.

Er... by 'game involving ragdolls and physics', do you mean practically every single game made in the past few years? I don't understand, is 'physics engine' even a selling point of the game?

Also, if you're looking for ways this is different, please note that:

1) It's a first person fighting game.
2) It has a style that looks incredibly unique.
