SNOOKER LOOPY, great review, I definately haveto rent Condemned 2 I think.

I have now adopted Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) Syndrome as a proper literary term.

Thats more like it Lambda

watches*

 damn straight :D

Really enjoyed this review and found it alot better than last weeks which although good was strange considering yahtzee's radical turn from calling NMH a broken GTA clone to flawed gem O_o

and I completely agree with him on fahrenheit (indigo prophecy in US)

also I loled at bukkake reference

They're just British phrases. We have all the best ones :)

Good vid :)

Ugh... I'm really disappointed to hear about what happened with the story. The first Condemned had a persistent creepiness to it because even when it began to delve into the supernatural, it never lost its grounding in reality. The evil was mostly hinted at just off-screen up until the end, and even then I wasn't sure if these manifestations were real or products of insanity.

How can Monolith cock up something like this so badly? Now I'll definitely be renting before purchasing.

SOunds like the first one was good but needed polish, the sequel was polished but lacked a decent second half?

Might still give this one a shot, defo rent first though and just plough through it in a weekend or something.

I looked behind me to see if there was a serial killer there :(

He was pissed.

I still wonder why Yahtzee hates the Witcher. That had to be the single most unpopular review he did.

I also disagree with his opinion on Fahrenheit (oui!), it was a great game. As for grounding in reality, it featured supernatural from the beginning, so...

He's so right, Condemned 1 was one of the best titles on the 360 and Condemned 2 is just stupid

You mean the first game or the sequel?

What exactly you're referring to in the beginning, I don't know. But by and large the first game only hints or suggests at the supernatural until later. And even then, by the very nature of its presentation, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be real or if of they were tricks in my character's mind. That's what made it scary, not knowing if these things were supposed to be real. And that's why, when I got my first up-close encounter with a demon in the house attic, I nearly crapped myself when I learned it wasn't a hallucination, but something very real and beating a pipe across my face.

It gradually unravels into the supernatural, but it doesn't wear it on its sleeve. It's camouflaged by the very non-magic world of serial killers, crime investigation, and face-bashing with weapons of the mundane. At the very least, it didn't go over the top with stupid super power bullcrap.

I couldn't agree more with what he said on Fahrenheit, it was a case of a great game ruined by the stupid twists near the end were it destroys everything it's done well at the beginning.

Yeah but it was pretty acceptable for the most part until you know the main character pretty much becomes Jesus and then

rogue AI decide they're going to take over the world

That was PURE WIN! One of my favorite reviews he has done for sure!

Dang. I enjoyed Condemned 2 having never played the first one, but I thought it was pretty lacking in tenseness/creepiness when the first one is commonly referred to as pant-shittingly scary. Guess now I know why.

Wait... so let me get this straight, they turned Ethan Thomas into some sort of alchoholic Neo, and explained away all the weird/paranormal stuff from the first game simply with "teh evil cult did it"....:|

All of a sudden i don't give a shit if they port this for the PC or not...:x

The funniest bit was when the game was selling Big Issues, considering all the earlier stuff about the homeless and class wars. Also the guest appearance by Lord Kitchener.

I burst out laughing when he said that. How he comes up with these phrases so brilliant, I have no idea. He must be descended from gods or something.
They're just British phrases...
Yep. We're pretty divine.

In my opinion, 2 easily had better gameplay, but 1 definately had a better storyline and atmosphere

I'm proud of myself for knowing the first song, and remembering what it was called and who it was by before the credits.

Well,
the way it was weaved into the storyline and presented didn't detract from the quality of the writing, it may have been too twisty of a twist, but overall it made sense. Not to mention that Lucas Jesus was CREATED by the AIs.

Its hard to detract from the quality of writing, when its already shit.
