Why is this whole Zidane headbut thing such big news?

I mean, in the US, we have entire games based around people slamming into each other head on. And even our games that AREN'T based on headbutting each other idiotically, usually devolve into such when the players get pissed at each other.

Does european football like, never have any playerfights?

It was Zidane's last match after ten years of being one of the best football players on the world. They could've won the worldcup and he screwed it up.

I know that.

Was it because he got pulled out and didn't get to FINISH his last game?

Still don't get it :/

Yeah, that's it.

Although we must remember Zidane has had more red cards than Keane

Zidane is a legend, and his action only made him more legendary.

And everyone who disagrees, can expect a zidane from me!

I thought European football was a civilized sport.

Zidane's actions cannot be comprehended by us mere mortals. We may never know why he did what he did.

I gotta hand it to him, that's one hell of a headbutt.

I agree, 4.5 stars out of 5! Bonus points for doing it on such a televised match but not perfect since it needs that little something... maybe if his chest exploded while the Mortal Kombat accouncer says "FINISH HIM!"

In the US all that probably happens is that you get sin binned for 5 minutes, but in football you're off for the entire match.

Yeah, well, Football isn't boxing, it's called the "beautiful game" for a reason you know. It's different games different rules. In your average game of American Football the players are suited up from head to toe in pads so they can afford to be a little rough with each other. Rugby is like American Football for real men. It doesn't help that your average American Football player is considered to be a "jock", i.e. overly concerned with their own perfectly kempt hair style and their pristine sparklers. They wouldn't take getting smashed in the mouth and losing a tooth too well.

Uh, jocks only care about sports and being tough and crap. I don't know where you got the notion they care about their hair or pristine sparklers.

Well if they were all ugly sob's they wouldn't get the hottest chicks would they?

They get the hottest chicks because they only care about sports and are tough and crap o_O. Sure, they look nice, but I think everyone strives to look nice.

sin binned? aren't you referring to rugby?

btw, if you get sent off in a game in football, you're out of the entire match too. It's just that you would have had to do something serious. If you headbutted someone after a play in football, it would probably be a personal foul/ spearing for which the penalty would be 15yards/automatic first down - for which you could be ejected from the game.

Rugby is not comparable to American Football in terms of hard hitting. I know it's hard to drill into your soccer-heads, but American football is a MUCH rougher sport than rugby, and as such they need protective padding. No padding would result in at LEAST 4 or 5 broken necks per game, not to mention how many other broken limbs and other massive injuries. Rugby is not comparable, and as such people can survive without padding.

Lol

Zidane ftw. If its true what that other player said, then the guy deserved it.

In football there is this important "no headbutting Italians" rule that makes all the difference :D
