Zombine qeustion

This might sound stupid but I dont understand the zombine.When I blow off the headcrab theres just some of the head left.What happend to the helmet and the rest of the head.Did the head crab eat it?It doesnt make much sence but I guess its still cool though

Nobody really knows...the combine propaganda seems to suggest that Combine who have undergone "the surgery" are modified...perhaps flesh and bone are removed, leaving just muscle under the facemask..the headcrab could probably easily digest this material, as opposed to bone...
