Zune software not coming up

So I just got a new Zune, and I installed the software. But everytime I double click the icon, the hour glass appears but nothing comes up. Can anyone help me???

4. Get an ipod

Reinstalling won't work, I've done it a few times. It works perfectly on my laptop though
And no, no Ipod. I can't go back!

good man, stay with zune.

1. does the zune.exe appear in your task manager.
2. restart?
3. are you installing from a cd or did you download the exe from the site?

ive never had this problem before, so im just throwing out the common stuff to check.

2. Restarted many times, and I was wondering if it might work if I go to safe mode?
3. Downloading the .exe

I've been looking on the Zune forums and a few people have the same problem, but no one can find a solution

any anti-virus software on your computer? ex. AVG, Avast, etc.

that can be the culprit for alot of software problems.

I have Avast, but like I said it works on my laptop and I have Avast also on it. I tried running it as administrator and everything.

Turn off your virus protection anyways and try it.

Yes, I've pretty much done what I could think of. Which is all the basic stuff. I looked through the source folder, and it doesn't look like I'm missing anything. I would ask my dad to help, but me and him are fighting >=|

So I just got my Zune, and Syncing it was a bitch. It kept getting stuck on random songs and stopping. I finally got it to go without stopping (hopefully) but its taking foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeever. I went and saw the Benjamin Button movie and came back to find its only at 52% done.

Baffled consumers are griping about a mysterious glitch that appeared to cause thousands of Zune music players to simultaneously stop working late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Microsoft issued the first Zune portable music player in 2006 to compete with the iPod.

Internet message boards have been flooded with complaints about Zune's 30GB models freezing, prompting Y2K-like speculation about end-of-year hardware or software problems.

"It seems that every Zune on the planet has just frozen up and will not work," posted a Mountain Home, Idaho, user on CNN's iReport.com. "I have 3 and they all in the same night stopped working."

Another iReporter said he was working the night shift at a Toys R Us store in Puerto Rico when his Zune player and the Zunes of four co-workers all failed about 1:30 a.m. ET Wednesday.

"It froze and there was no way to turn it off so you just have to wait until the batteries went dead. You can't push any buttons or anything," Carlos Colon told CNN. Colon said he owns a first-generation 30GB model.

My problem isn't the Zune itself, but the Zune software music player. The one you're talking about is what I just said, being that all 30GB Zunes are freezing. I found out that I had atleast 50 updates for my computer. So I thought to myself "Hey! Maybe that's why the software isn't working." Boy was I wrong! I still have no solution to my problem =/
