Those are a couple of pics from an island called Balitung in Indonesia, I was there last weekend. Incredible place. And apart from me and my friend, there were only two tourists.

BUT I'm off to Thailand on Monday by m'self. Not sure what to expect, I don't even know where I'm going to stay yet. And I land at 18:45 on Monday. (Bangkok). So far my plan is to just leave asap, and make my way down to Cambodia. I'll have to find a bus or something. Anyone here ever been to Thailand? Recommend me some shit to do?

If I ever went to Thailand I'd probably die. I'm allergic to all kinds of nuts and with the amount of peanut sauce and shit they use in their food I wouldn't last a day.

Haha, I like how casual you are about not having a place to stay or transportation. I was supposed to go this summer and meet with a friend who lives in Bangkok, had to back out due to other more important commitments.

One golden rule, always make sure its a chick - you can tell by the hands.

there's also the scar from where the penis used to be

Play chess.
He's already said he's not spending a single night in Bangkok.

So, does anyone know anything about Thailand beyond the ladyboys and its vague links to a minor 80s musical? Not that I do. I can only guess that the surgery is cheap and convincing and a viable alternative to NHS waiting lists. Oh, and the Curry is green.

My advice would be to stay the night in Bangkok. Thailand has great railways, except towards and from the Cambodian border. Your best bet would be to go to the Khao San road district, since that is the backpack neighbourhood of Bangkok. Lots of hostels there plus travel agencies where you can book a bus to Cambodia. I'd spend some time in Thailand though. The island of Ko Chang might be a good idea. It is almost on the border with Cambodia so it is a good hub if you're going in that direction. The best beach on the island is Lonely Beach. Don't be fooled by the name; it stopped being lonely around 10 years ago. But Ko Chang isn't as touristic as most islands in the south, so it's not a 2nd Phuket or Ko Samui.
Just pm me if you have more questions. I have been to SE Asia 5 times so I know my way around.

there's something about SE asia i don't like. i think it's the last place i wanna visit. maybe some unconscious prejudice.

Don't insult the king. Apparently it's a capital crime.

Sun, sea, cheap scuba diving, great food, beautiful nature, interesting culture and tanned 26 y.o. single girls on a gap year every where. What's not to like?

Cool my parents are going on vacation to Thailand on wednesday and then to Bali.

Be wary of the child prostitutes! They may only be 8 years old, but they can still have AIDS.

SO: thanks to all, I am now fully aware of the dangers lurking in Thailand, including lady-boys (saw one last night)(ran away very quickly), green curries, and child prostitutes with AIDS.

I must also inform Darkside that I have chosen to take a deck of cards in place of a chess set.

But on a serious note, I was planning to spend a few days in Bangkok. Its just that I don't have that much money, and I'd rather spend what time I have in Cambodia and Vietnam, and Laos if somehow manage to still have money. Which I probably won't.
