Self-explanatory. Note though that the title is non-plural. That means ONLY ONE goddamnit. Noone reads long-ass posts with 30 links in them.

Mine (at the moment) - Josh Freese

Freakin mad drummer, with a great style - one that I personally strive to work into my own drumming. Does session work, aswell as touring with bands like A Perfect Circle, the Vandals, Devo (lol), and Nine Inch Nails. Those of you with the Beside You in Time DVD will have already seen him going at it.

Love him for his work with APC alone, but here's another reason why he kicks ass (even if you're not into the music, which I'm not) -

Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher) Like his electronic stuff or not, he's one hell of a bassist. Not one for a ridiculous show off of technical talent, he just plays awesome sounding music.

Pretty much what I was going to put down for the moment. And even when gets really self-indulgent, he's always at the top of his game.
 
Gotta be Matt Bellamy, brilliant pianist and guitar player, exellent song/lyric writer, phenomenal singer. For someone in a three-man band, who plays the only lead guitar, the piano and sings? The mans a musical genious. However, the band wouldn't be Muse without the Dom and a Chris on bass and drums, some people forget how vital they are to the songs.

I think he did the drumming for The Offspring's album Splinter too.
 
To be honest, my choice was tied with Richard D. James. I'm just currently more fascinated with Jenkinson's constructions at the moment. If I could, I'd put down Autechre, but that's two guys...

Trent Reznor is also pretty high up there. Used to be my top idol when was a total NIN fanatic. I'm a bit more moderate these days. :)

Dom was my favourite drummer for quite awhile a few years back. He still kicks the ass very soundly. All three of them are awesome though, I don't think the band would be the same if any one of them were to leave.

Einziger is great, too. While not amazing on a technical level, and not hugely innovative on a creative level, he has a really wicked style that compliments Incubus' music well. He really knows how to pull some beautiful sounds out of his guitars, too.

Without a doubt, it has to be Matt Bellamy from Muse! The guy is just so f***ing talented! I'm always saying how is it that he can be so talented? It's just not fair! I mean, he's an incredible singer, guitarist and pianist!

I don't think I could name a favorite musician of all time. My current favorite, however, is Danny Carey, the drummer of Tool. I never really paid any attention to the drums in Tool until a couple weeks ago, and Carey is currently blowing my mind. It's hot.
 
You should talk to a drummer friend of mine. Talked to him on MSN for like 2 years and he never stopped raving about Danny Carey :p

I think he's good, but he repeats himself alot in Tool's music. His more improvisational stuff is always a little awkward.
 
I'd say the artist I'm into the most right now is Jim Morrison.
