We've been referring to the new rare cosmetic headgear as "hats" but IS THAT ACCURATE?

Are we to believe that helmets are simply a subset of hats? Telling a Soldier he better wear a hat to protect him from bullets, surely this is absurd!

Clearly anything that rests on the top of the cranium is a hat regardless of its purpose or ability to withstand baseballs to the head, why the Engineers helmet is called a hardhat. To question this perfectly fine definition is nothing short of pedantic rabble-rousing!
