Hello everyone,

I decided to spend 50 freaking Euros on BF BC2 and to my bad luck I'm unnable to install the game on my computer. This makes me très faché

The error message I get is : " The location you have selected cannot be written to. Please select another location"

This error message comes at the very end when the status is "creating shortcuts"

I tried to change the install folder on my D: drive but the instalation will send an error message as soon as its launched.

I'm running out of options here, I defraged my drive but still nothing.

Any tips? How can I change my D drive to be default instalation folder instead of my C: drive ?

Sounds to me like it could be a permissions problem. What operating system are you using?

XP

Update: I left the instalation window open with the error and went to my c: folder.

The game is installed, I can even play it but I need to leave the installation window open or else it will delete the game... meaning I cant shut down my comp...

Copyright protection at its best. God Bless EA!

Is your computer's language setting non-English, btw?

That caused numerous problems for me, ESPECIALLY with the directory installing thing.

Its in French. I tried the instalation in French as well alas to the same result.

Try setting your system locale to US English.

Am i the only one who laughed when reading this? Not trying to be offensive or anything but i imagined the stereotypical french guy saying that.

Try using the administrator account with windows xp, there may be a problem with the permissions set up on your specific user account?

Perhaps the last thing the installation tries to do, is make shortcuts which appear on other user's desktops...and they have restricted this access?

If you're going to shell out 50 euros, you should have got it on Steam. Far more convenient and no installation worries.

Meh, still haven't be able to install it.

But to be honest, I've been playing it now for half a day and its not realy a great game. I dont know whats up latly with gamespot and their game scores.

This game is a cheaper version of COD42.

I'm just going to bring it back tomorow and change ir for another game.

Something is preventing it from writing the the desktop of all users (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop). Could be anti-virus, could be permission problem (not running as administrator), or your drive is corrupt (run chkdsk /f)

But this game is a bit of a disappointment. It gets better in multiplayer once you rank up and get better guns. Also try hardcore mode in multiplayer, its nice not having to fire 20 hots into someone to kill them.

Give it more time. I don't know if you're playing the SP or the MP. But don't return the game because of the SP. The game is rather disheartening at first but once you get used to it, it is a true blast. Just keeping playing till you get some better weapons and a feel for the maps and the gameplay.

I'd have to say CoD6 is a cheap version of BC2.

This.

Played an hour or so of the SP of MW2 and I was bored out of my skull. I'm not even going to bother with the MP side of it after seeing the youtube vids.

BC2 is definately more fun when you unlock stuff in MP. Rank up a bit and you'll grow to love it :) It's also way more fun with friends than alone.
