Also check out Electric Company at http://www.myspace.com/stick999 for an example of how I can take a couple similar segments of strumming and loop them to create a constant theme for the song.
BTW if you are worried about playing on time with a beat:
Most important thing is for a song is that you play at the same tempo throughout. Because you are good enough to play one part faster than the rest doesn't mean you should, because it won't turn out right.
This is probably important: listen to a basic rock song to inspire you right before you play. This will kind of get the rhythm in your head while you play along to it.
Just pace yourself and don't think about it. I'll work with whatever you've got. worse comes to worse, parts could be used for a Trip-hop song or something.
I'm getting ready to go to bed at the moment. The song I had in mind, I just started today. It's got some great potential but it's really just roughed out so far.
I'll take a look at my latest stuff tomorrow and see if there is something suitable.
you might check out my latest song on myspace. the song that automatically plays when you visit the page. It needs some variety, but it's going to have to be pretty specific to the song to match it; doubtful. Check it out in case you think you can work with it. Obviously, anything can be rearranged so that I can include some unique guitar stuff. I can put a spot with just drums or with silence, or just bass - whatever.
would you like to hear a song I've made and see if you don't come up with a little riff or something?
anther Idea I had was to show you a few examples of songs I'd like to make. Some metal videos on Youtube.
Anyway, I mostly need the main sections of songs. I'm not going to find a use for some amazing guitar solo if I don't have the main guitar part of the song to carry it. Guitar solos are optional bro.
For example a simple bassline that could play through a song, or some strumming that is done identically but in a few different octaves.
Then I can do 10 seconds of G and then switch to 10 seconds of strumming in A or whatever, and switch back to G.
I prefer modern metal shit, but acoustic stuff is awesome too. BTW, after years of mostly just electronic drums with effects, I'm learning write songs and sing and it's starting to sound awesome.
The middle part is wrong. That's actually the most important part. But oh well, I'll have to settle. My .. project.. should be finished today. Pulled an all-nighter working on it D:
