f5 = restrict to X

alt+f6 = snap to pivot toggle...
sorry xsi doesn't let you make cars :/ it crashes... before you even start... when you think about it, xsi just melts ur mobo, sry. everybody's method differes i'm sure, i'm a box model whore myself, so i just outline the car/what have you & just extrude like it's nobody's business. followed...

i thot it looked odd too, i think it's the normal map though.. because the side w/out the normal map doesn't look too bad heh. also... i didn't render w/ raytrace... (notice the lack of any detail in the skin :p lol, i figured i'd just let the normal map do the work for me)
mk, my first guess would be that the tga file isn't in the right format or something. i bleev it should be 32-bit & compressed (altho i think using other than 32-bit is ok w/out transparency :/) assuming u have that ok, could be something w/ the qc. i usually just use the compile toolkit so...
