I always start on normal. If I beat the game and I really enjoyed it I will play it again on hard. If I didn't enjoy it or I have already won it on hard I will then play it on easy just for the kicks of owning everything I see.

or better yet, use your brains, like the first poster on that link is doing. Come on...
Don't forget to overwrite the vsync option in your graphics card's control panel. HL 1 doesn't have a vsync option and you get pretty bad tearing without it turned on. I just recently played through HL1 again and played the opposing force expansion for the first time. (I never bought it but...
Yes, your steam account has it purchased you can play from anywhere. It doesn't care what IP you ordered it from. I have Steam at home and at work with the game preloaded in both places. When it comes out on the 16th I will unlock the game at work since I plan on buying it on my way to work that...
Yes but you forgot about the other retail adage.
"A good crack addict will kill his own mother to buy some more."
I think in the end people will want to play the "crack" more then they want to complain about having to use an internet connection they already have. I am not talking about the...
No mainstream music. Half Life is suppose to be immersive not annoying. If they put anything even close to NIN in it I would throw the game out the window. Then I would realize I could just turn off the music and I would go and get it. NIN is crap!!
What he said what he said.
I am getting retail as well. Just select "Browse Games" and then click on the "Register a product I already own..." button. Then you just enter your CD key off of the retail box and your pre-load unlocks for you and you are off and running. Simple as that.
These are only the tools. They require a working couterstrike source install and therefore can't work with just a preload of HL2. Relax, when the full SDK is released you will be able to get it through steam without the game just like the Source Dedicated Server. They released this ahead of the...
I was a big skeptic of steam and didn't like the idea at all. I finally downloaded and installed it a few weeks ago so I could pre-load HL2. I registered my Half-Life CD key and have to say that I was very impressed with how well done it was. I still think they need to do more with linking an...
It is a big persian rug. As you can see in the picture he doesn't have a chair because he likes to stand, probably so he can get around easier in that big lab. Thick persian rugs are very easy on the feet, which is why you see them used on stage at concerts where people are standing for 2 to 3...
VU ships them out early. They aren't going to go around to each store on the 16th and hand them out a minute before release time. By the end of next week most places will already have their shipments and by the 15th everyone will have it in stock just waiting to sell it.
How did they find out? VU calling every game store in the world. They probably adverstised it and VU noticed it and sent them a letter or something. It doesn't matter how it happened it isn't going to stop shops from selling it when thier stores open on the 16th.
Doesn't matter to anyone who...
Only because the shop asked around. You really think some gamer shop is going to tell people to come back when it is midnight in Kirkland WA instead of just taking their money. It is really stupid to expect shops to do that. Everyone knows it comes out on the 16th and when retail shops open on...
Valve isn't going to be able to stop shops in Europe from selling it when their stores open on the morning of the 16th. I should say VU won't be able to because Valve doesn't care. They would gladly release steam right now. I would not be surprised to see some of our European friends on these...
Halo 2 has actually added a lot. It will rule the online play in the console world but that is the console world. Again PC and console are very different. GTA is just crap and always has been. Sure it is open ended and you can go around and be an evil prick and laugh about it but a lot of games...
This is a little different. Microsoft patents everything to avoid being sued by anyone who comes along and patents something they are using at the same time or to use in counter suits when they are sued for lame things. All large companies do this. A million lame patents covering every moronic...
