Steam is what HL2 is running off, regardless of what version you buy. So if you play multiplayer you will have to deal with Steam. How they do that is unknown at the time. They might allow LANs without internet.. but then that leaves a possibly securtiy flaw so I dunno :/ Hopefully they figure...

Scripts won't make a difference if you suck at the game. You will still suck. They just make tasks that you do all the time easier. And if it's a complex thing you have to do, scripts won't work or be effective anyways.

The Valve Premiere Pack was included in Steam when it FIRST hit beta, a long long time ago.

It was never supposed to "add-on" to TFC. It's a completely new game that will be nothing like TFC, which is a remake of TF. Yes and the face pics on the site are from the HL engine over 2 years ago D:

Calm down.. lol.. Steam is fine they know what they're doing. It will be very painless. Next patch will convert everyone to Steam and they will make it so your HL expeience will be exactly like it used to be, except enhanced.

Old Steam beta users will remember that "Valve Premiere Pack" was the terminology for HL and all the available mods. Chances are if you buy HL via Steam you will buy the "Valve Premiere Pack" and get HL+Mods. But most of us will get it once we enter our valid HL CDKey :) Actually no, Steam...
