    Dante, if what Zipster said is right, and if the engine accesses Steam stuff all the time anyway, then of course your mod would pose no greater security risk to Valve. But if it relies on the checks you've developed, yes, they could be hacked, but yes, as you said, Steam can be hacked, too...
