Monitor switches off when I try to play. I can't even start the game in Safe Mode. Tried changing the video driver. The game is running because I can hear the opening screens. When I close the game down to a window, my monitor switches back on again. All other games including Half Life 2 do not...
I installed the game and when I tried to run it, my monitor switches off. I can hear the opening screens running but my monitor is switched off. If I use the ALT key combination to close the program down and then click on it with the mouse, it will open up and the monitor will stay on allowing...
No. It's the same with everybody. This clipping should have been cured before the turn of the century but it still exists in some 'so called next gen' engines. I can't recall seeing any in Far Cry though.
As I have mentioned before, the sky is uninteresting and static. It may as well be a picture postcard. We need clouds gently moving. Dynamic weather and changing day/night cycles. Don't forget, the current push is for total immersion.
Artificial lights and their interaction with the physics...
I tried it in a 'high stutter savegame' I kept. The level Follow Freeman. No audio stuttering now but the pauses still exist. Not much changed. Think I'll go back to playing Far Cry, which in my opinion, is STILL the best game this year.
That problem is indicative of the earlier drivers 50 series and previous. If you are using an older driver, upgrade to one of the 60 series. I know this because I have experimented with the earlier drivers in order to improve the 3D shutter glasses effect.
I WAS using the leaked 67.20 drivers a couple of days ago. These new 'Evolution' drivers are allegedly based on those drivers but have basically been modified by some Joe in the street. Some people say they could conceal a CD-keystealer or something malicious.
I know this is a minor problem considering the audio stuttering problem we all have plus the other bugs but is there a way to stop vegetation from suddenly appearing? Like drawdistance or something? I know it's a bit fickle but unlike Valve, I'm a perfectionist.
I too, was disappointed with the sky not moving. Shit, even Operation Flashpoint had a moving sky and dynamic weather conditions and that was 2001. That's why I'm looking forward to Stalker. Half Life 2 is a great game but there is definitely room for improvement. And why hasn't object clipping...
As it has been said before, it is NOT the autosaves. I cite the level 'Follow Freeman' as evidence of this. There is much stuttering as there are a lot of sounds going on around you. The game doesn't autosave THAT much.
Same problem. Audio stuttering. Tried everything posted here plus various drivers including beta ones. I finished the game but the stuttering annoyed the f**k out of me. I'd like to play it again in stutter free mode. When the new nvidia stereo drivers come out I'll play it in 3D too.
There are three batteries in that area that you have to place in the contraption in one of the buildings. The obvious battery of the three is actually in the building.
