Well naysayers, HL2 is still not leaked into newsgroups or torrent sites. Seems, the pirates have still not been able to overcome the steam authentication.

How the hell is this a bug? 30 FPS lock is just to give a solid consistent performance. You can always tune it. The game works flawlessly on many people's computer. It was steam's first test, and it did considerably well pass!

Based on what I've played, giving HL2 a 9.2, is a crime.

Played it for 2.5 hours. Amazing game. The menu screen is fantastic, but wiat till you get into the game. The graphics are IMO better than doom 3, the gameplay is pretty fun ATM, but lets see how it continues. Yep, it blows away teh competition!!! My only complaint are the long loading times.

Still not there. Just started the airboat level. :)

I'm now hitting 60 frames too. Much more smoother!

go into your steam folder... C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\(your user name)\half-life 2\hl2\cfg open up the CFG file and add: fps_max "100" (or whatever you want your max fps to be) then save. ------------------------------ The FPS was capped to 30, for me. Happened...

How's about you actually play the game? Most people seem to have this problem due to preload or hardware issues. Most of my friends' copy works perfectly.

Yeah, the pacing at start is a bit too fast. Still, it's pretty good.

and that's just dx 8. Things look much cooler in dx 9 (especially the shader effects).

It works like a dream on my 9800pro. The graphics are definately better than Doom 3, IMO.

Can you get a screenshot of that ripple glass effect on the doors. That was sexy - I'm not able to take screenshots myself.

Calm down dude. Doom 3 didn't work for me for 3 days. Be patient, rememdies will be on there way, much sooner than that. .
