It still upsets me what they have done to the NFS series. I remember the good old days where me and my brothers would crowd around the computer screen playing Hot Pursuit, what an awesome game that was. Then Porsche Challenge, and Hot Pursuit 2 was still brilliant imo. It would have been ok if...
Have it, played it for a while, but didn't find it that great tbh. I played the demo of the 360 version as well and it seemed much better than the PC version.
Cool stuff ! I played through GTA4 on the 360, and then decided to get it for the PC, because it should be able to look much better. It does, but you need a powerful rig to run it, and as Brick said, having a quad will net you a good increase. I'm still struggling along on an Athlon X2 939 rig...
Ah man, much fun and lolage was had. Running around in the sewer going "wtf, are we running in circles" whilst getting continually molested xD
And damn Francis bot ! Me thinking we would sneak past it, had barely finished my sentence over the mic "witch, turn your flashlight off...
Nope, not that large a performance increase. Not a bad card, don't get me wrong, but nowhere near a large enough jump to be shelling out good money for.
For example, for a little bit more one of these would pee all over it:

I can't comment on that PSU because i know nothing about it ! To be honest 550W of quality power is probably enough for all but the most high end of systems. Mind, PSU's have seriously improved in the power efficiency stakes of late, so if you are building a new rig then it is probably worth...
I have around 160 albums on CD, so between 15-20 GB in medium quality MP3 form, but in flac would be significantly more than that. I buy all the music i like, and tbh i prefer not to listen to music on my computer, but to play it on my hi-fi system.
I avoided the AMD route, as although they are cheaper, they are quite some way off the performance of the Intel chips, although in games you don't necessarily notice so much. Faster memory is good for overclocking, but you can always use memory dividers or slacken the memory timings on lower...
Well, here's my attempt. It's a little over, and there are a few areas where you might be able to squeeze out a few dollars, but not much more than 40-50 at the most, and these are all decent components:

I need to play me some more L4D as well. Had a few games with some HL2.netters and they were a blast, but not seen many people in L4D whilst idling in chat.
Steam name is 3ssence, feel free to add me. I'm not amazing at L4D by any means, but i play nice and am in it for the fun.
:D
For anyone that is interested, here is an early look at a pre-production card, with benchies and stuff:

Well, given that the problem was solved by changing the orientation of the case, maybe something could be slightly loose, or maybe something that shouldn't be touching is touching, maybe shorting out ? Just a guess.
