Do you mean 30fps smooth as butter ? Because the demo is framerate locked to 30fps, because that is the speed that the physics engine runs at, so they locked the rendering engine to the same rate as the physics engine (or something along those lines), so unless you unlock the framerate, you'll...
The prices on aria are shown excluding vat, which is slightly misleading. 159 would be an absolute bargain for an 8800, but it's actually 188 including vat, which isn't the cheapest i've seen.
I used to follow overclock closely, as they had a good range of stuff for decent prices, however, their site and the variety of hardware they offered went wayward a couple of years ago imo and i haven't used them since.
Scan and Overclockers are my main outlets for hardware. I trust them and...
Tis a good setup. I have an extreme music and z5500's and it's lovely. The z5500's are pretty damn good considering they are not hi-fi separates. Quality sound, and an awful lot of it. Seriously, i can barely turn them up past 1/3 without deafening the neighbours.

Cool
:)
Been toying with the idea of an opty 180 myself, still on 939, 3800 @ 2.75, nice performer, but dual core could be handy for some of the games coming out soon, and there is life in this system yet.
:)
Downloading this demo as we speak. From what i've heard it could be fantastic. Although, i'm not one for RTS, but i did love company of heroes, and this looks a little different to your standard RTS fare.
People get hung up on the bottleneck issue. I'm amazed how many people think it's not worth getting an 8800 just because you are on socket 939 :\ !
You may lose a few fps here and there, but you will still be getting a hell of a card, well worth the pennies it cost. We're talking a neglidgible...
I'm pretty sure you can get any brand as long as it is a 7600GT, and yes SLI would work under windows XP home. As for support, i'm not sure myself which games do or don't support SLI, but i think there are a good few games out now that do receive a decent boost from SLI cards, however, with a...
The 4400 isn't really worth the extra, especially if you buy the 4200 from scan for 50 pounds:

another 2 x 512 corsair value kit is 30 from scan as well:

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I'm very easily scared by the cheap, something jumping out at you from the darkness type moments, but the Bioshock demo was more a case of creating an atmosphere and cinematic moments that were both brutal and scary, but not in a heart palpitation kind of way ...
Looks like a decent basic PC to me. Integrated graphics on the new AMD chipset, handy, saves money and avoids a separate card with another fan to add to any noise. Decent PSU, always important, a nice X2 CPU, that will be more than enough for smooth browsing, and whatever else he wants to do...
I have an NEC like Asus and i can't fault it at all, but as he said, i'd go for a sata drive. Samsung have a couple of decent sata DVD-RW's out at the moment, it may well be worth giving them a look.
You want one of these kits:

It basically has all of those solutions in small bottles, quite handy, and plenty enough to use for future applications etc. etc.
Use the Acetone to remove the thermal material, then clean the heatspreader with the isopropyl alcohol to make sure it is completely clear of acetone (which would otherwise start to dissolve any new thermal material you put on there).
