To secure a possible job prospect, i decided to model this car, what i have so far is a result of one day's work, still LOTS to do.
BTW, im part of CWMP mod (best models modelers are there  )
The car will never be seen from inside the cabin, so i didnt have to do all the things i did inside that are there. As for the center conosle, it does extend like the real one, and as for the arm rests.... would you like a coffee with that too? :naughty:

I learnt XSI a year and a bit from today, and before that i had 3 months with lightwave 7.5. I also used 3d max, which i didnt like at all.... all the menus and submenus, and sub-sub menus.. gets annoying.
And about the bmp-3 scaling..hehehehe true. my bad!
ok.. fixed a LOT of stuff today, did new rims, added thickness to the pillars, optimized also since i went over the 10k, but now looks so much better.... i had to remodel the front wheel wells since they where giving me a headache shadingwise.
So, is it better or what?
And as for model...
the problem with "optimizing" is that the polys are where they are for a reason, this model will have realtime reflections, and if the mesh isnt almost prefect you will get strange reflections that kill the smoothness and continuity of the model. That is why it is as is... in fact, i added more...
cest pas pour HL2, cest pour une autre jeux.... pardon my french :-)
and 10k is perfectly fine, look at PGR2. And this level of detail is needed..... if i get hired ill be working with "la creme de la creme"
Im a modeler for CW:MP, but had to do this as a "test" for a possible contract.
Done in XSI, 10k poly limit, my model has 9300 and 2 512x512 maps. 2 weeks for completion (on and off so less then 1 week in total)
It has to do with Photons (actual light photons being emmited from a source) and the simulation of how they will react upon the geometry in the scene, that is how you get those renders, and for that you can easily fake it by using several lights with different intesities\shadows and save a lot...
the shoes are weirdly shaped and have WAY too many polys.
study some human body pictures and follow the contours loosely since he is wearing clothes. legs look good, the rest of the body just plain needs work. keep at it.
Just use what the "professionals" use (valve)
XSI :-), and why did they move to XSI? such a move is costly, imagine how hard it hit them when they realized XSI is such a good program, outclassing everything else.... And lightwave fanboy, i used lightwave, and it is nowhere near as good as...
