Im a modeler for CW:MP, but had to do this as a "test" for a possible contract.

Done in XSI, 10k poly limit, my model has 9300 and 2 512x512 maps. 2 weeks for completion (on and off so less then 1 week in total)

10,000 is a bit high for a in game car, but looks good, now cut it down. Some suggestions would be, grill, wheels, and inside(looks a bit too detailed for an inside)

10k is less than the HL2 buggy was last time I checked... though, they did say they needed to optimize it quite a bit.

cest pas pour HL2, cest pour une autre jeux.... pardon my french :)

and 10k is perfectly fine, look at PGR2. And this level of detail is needed..... if i get hired ill be working with "la creme de la creme"

I think I didn't express myself well enough, what I ment was that the latest NFS uses 7k-8k and that's just what I have been going off of... since it's the most selling of all the racing games.

but surely it isnt the best.

It doesnt matter, the poly budget is 10k. so.... its 9.3 k :)

Yeah it's top notch.... he budget for the contract was 10K polys..... less than the original PGR used....and it looks better.... ;)

tbh, 6thats a ****ing amazing model. The only thing I can see wqrong with it is that you wpould definatly need LOD levels. If u could make the next LOD level about 3000 triangles them down to about 400 it would be so amazing.

'tbh, thats a ****ing amazing model'

ill second that. looks sweet, and i guess that count includes the interior, which, from here looks very detailed, nice going man. i wish we had you on our mod :p

Looks great...... I still wouldnt settle for 9300 polys though.....if something can be optimised then do it.

the problem with "optimizing" is that the polys are where they are for a reason, this model will have realtime reflections, and if the mesh isnt almost prefect you will get strange reflections that kill the smoothness and continuity of the model. That is why it is as is... in fact, i added more polys just to make sure its as near perfect as can be.

lol crappy, this guy really knows he's good. but why post it on here if you know your that good, :p , I say , uh um. modest show off. cough cough :)

if it's for a possible job, then the only thing to say is do more.

ok.. fixed a LOT of stuff today, did new rims, added thickness to the pillars, optimized also since i went over the 10k, but now looks so much better.... i had to remodel the front wheel wells since they where giving me a headache shadingwise.

So, is it better or what?

hehe, you still gotta make the BMP-3 bigger to be in scal with th other things :)

Holy crap! You're good, I still need to get a copy of Softimage to try it out, most people who use it seem to be very good, I'm using max right now.

Crits!

It really actually looks REAL to me, I think it looks wonderful. Maybe do a little extra work on the inside, I don't know, it just kind of looks a little empty. EXCELLENT model overall though!

RMachucaA how long u been using XSI? I just got XSI 3.5 and it looks alright, It seems to have amazing storage and organisation. But its kinda hard knowing 2 3d programs because u always think that one is the other and miss things that are in other programs :(

Infact I know how to use 3 programs and it gets confusing. I am definatly going to try learn XSI though, even if it is for its animation capabilitys and easy bump mapping. How long have u been using it? where is the best place to get tutorials? etc...

I learnt XSI a year and a bit from today, and before that i had 3 months with lightwave 7.5. I also used 3d max, which i didnt like at all.... all the menus and submenus, and sub-sub menus.. gets annoying.

And about the bmp-3 scaling..hehehehe true. my bad!

Now I know what looks wrong about the inside!
It's missing the arm rests that are on the doors, and the little partition thing that's usually between the two front seats is missing, I don't know if there is a shifter in there though... Nothing high poly, just something to fill the space and make it look a little more "crowded" like a car usually is... Great work though!

The car will never be seen from inside the cabin, so i didnt have to do all the things i did inside that are there. As for the center conosle, it does extend like the real one, and as for the arm rests.... would you like a coffee with that too? :naughty:

Oh, don't forget the door handle, and the power windows, window locks, cruise control button, seat control, seat heating control, controller control, and the auto-gyro dynamo, to make sure my coffee doesn't spill. Thanks, now to use that brand to ion cigarette lighter :smoking:
