I have a MITSUMI CR-487ETE, and it came with Nero 5.5.10.5 I also noticed it wont burn onto all CDs, only certain brands. Any help?

I have a small problem here.. I can only burn CDs with my CD-RW with the software that came with it. When I download Nero6, Alcohol %120, ISO burner.. etc.. etc.. it wont work. Anyone know what might cause this? EVERYTHING on my system is up to date.. any help would be appreciated!!!~
