The 2500 could easily reach 3000 or 3200 speeds with a little tweaking. But without the unlocked multiplier of the xp mobile you cant get your bus speeds to insanely high speeds.

2mbps is probably just your download your upload is probably MUCH MUCH slower. A router is a device that allows you to split your connection and handles the packets sent.
