The last "info from Valve" post confirms the charging stations in the question about the "use" key. I think that that was the first official word I had seen about the return of the chargers.
That first example is actually depth of field and has nothing to do with lighting (HDR). Depth of field hasn't been implemented in any games that I know of...it's just too hard to decide what to have in focus and what to have out of focus in a game. I've seen it in cutscenes, but not in actual...
lol, that's a better idea! include a pair of non-magnifying glasses to wear while playing the game. That would provide the effect much more realistically!
Stuff like the fogging has been done before in Metroid Prime with Samus' helmet visor. You could even see Samus's face reflected in the visor if there was a bright explosion in front of her or something...very cool! The upcoming Star Wars squad based combat game (can't remember the name right...
Right down to Barney's hairy chest!
oops! I shouldn't have mentioned that scene...stuff from the beta isn't allowed... :O
;)
EDIT: Just for clarification...I haven't played the stolen game and am talking out my ass...
Hmmm, I had never noticed the author of the book there...Marc Laidlaw! Throwing little easter eggs into the game has gotta be one of the best thing about developing a game. I know we've hunted for the video easter eggs before, but Valve seems to know how to enjoy themselves, I wonder what kind...
Excellent! I thought it was an issue with my computer...It definitely throws off the coolness of the lipsyncing work that Valve did if you don't hear them until 5 seconds later!
Thanks!
I'm still not sure about the Half-life world being very related to Brazil or 12 Monkeys, but this has definitely gotten me drooling...Wouldn't it be amazing if some game company were to bring Terry Gilliam onboard with the development of a game. His movies and themes would lend themselves so...
Hmmm, I'm seeing a lot more 1984 in the HL2 stuff so far than Brazil. Other than thematically, I see very little connection with Brazil. And Brazil's theme can be traced back to 1984 anyways...
Either way, go rent Brazil...it's a great movie! Hmmmm, a Brazil mod made with Source...how...
All I want to know is when CS:CZ2 comes out!!!
j/k
Anyways, I think that what Gabe said in the video leaves a lot to interpretation. He said that people have been asking about multiplayer...not HL2 mp specifically. Obviously it was an HL2 demonstration, so it can easily be assumed that...
Yeah, it could just as easily be ATI's answer to the fairy tech demo...The world does need more highly rendered hot women, but I'd much rather it be Alyx we're seeing rather than some random one that exists only in a demo.
Unless the demo girl is really hot :naughty: ;)
They definitely look like Alyx's hands if I remember right...it'd be cool if the x800 release coincides with some new info about HL2 and some new videos!
Here's hoping!
I played the entire first Serious Sam and never once noticed this...maybe that's why I'm pretty indifferent to the whole feet thing, sure it lends some realism, but I think it's a lot of headaches for the developer to make them look perfect as well.
I do like the idea of realistic dynamic...
This makes me think of Metroid Prime for the Game Cube. It is one of the coolest things to have your visor fog up when you walk through steam or to actually be able to see the reflection of Samus's face when an explosion or bright light is in front of her. It's awesome how the small things can...
