Go to www.steampowered.com and tell them about it, the answers might be there or you might have found a new bug. Either way report it explaining your OS, Service Pack Level etc...
Then we can progress with getting Steam non-beta!
Just wondering if anyone has the complete picture on how Steam updating works. I have just this one question.
If you stay logged into Steam overnight and there is a platform update (not media) released during this time, does Steam automatically update itself or does it just work when...
The 2 minutes or so (not counted) file is 70MB for the GMan, so you can imagine that it is a good idea of Valve to release parts at a time!
Once a day is not a bad thing, if it happens, but Steam had no problems at all and was using 80% of my bandwidth - so all is hopeful.
Internal / External IPs, what are you talking about????
Internal LAN IP as opposed to External Web IP - is this what you mean? If this is the case, Steam will only see the External IP anyway, so this doesn't change anything?
You can actually back-up the Steam Files to CD and install on another PC. All you need to do is copy the Steaminstaller.exe and the gcache.(file_extension_forgotten) file for each game. Then after installing Steam with correct User Details etc... place the gcache in the directory - making sure...
Yeah sure, just Delete the folders they reside in. BUT first make sure you Right-Click --> Properties {in STEAM - GAMES window} on all games you delete and make sure they do not automatically update themselves. Otherwise you'll re-download from scratch. :p
I was just wondering whether you think that the Video will automatically list itself as another item in the Games tab, or whether we will need to add it. I have noticed they have removed the whole Subscription idea that they used to have, so was wondering how people think it would work?
This will probably be implemented in a new version whenever released. ie. it is more than likely just a placeholder for now - just remember - we're still BETA testing!
I think that the CS 1.6 bots are good, they do learn very well. For instance if you play de_survivor, the bots used to get stuck inside the airplane and squat there waiting for you! Simple enough to throw in a HE Grenade to knock their HP down and then shoot them. Also they never knew how to...
Something like making a Sticky thread like the "Half-Life 2 FAQ" thread! Just one post in a controlled environment!
Now who has the time and willing to do this?
The way I am kind of thinking follows the Gabe line of thinking, in that you are Gordon Freeman, you see everything through his eyes!
Now since you are this person, then it makes sense that you do not know what has happened in between the 2 games (or 15 years if you like).
The whole point...
Is this thread actually going to result in a new moderator(s) being installed? Come on munro you started this, put some *lucky* (if that's how you feel) people out of their misery!
Steam got maxed out when CS 1.6 Beta was first released, in the end they stopped allowing people to sign-up and get the content.
Since the demand has gone down, the service has been running fine, but as you have *guessed* since all of the speculation that Valve are to release the High-Res...
