You're not doing your argument a favour by posting one of the oldest available shots of HL2 and one of the ugliest of DooM III.
Generally speaking, I think this type of discussion is a bit pointless.
Different strokes for different games, I'm just glad that there still is so much variety out...
DNF is on such a different level of vaporage that Wired felt that only creating a Lifetime Achievement Award would do it justice.

Killer 7, no contest.
As for the runners-up, I concur with Wolf (on the DooM III bit) and Zoorado (on the rest) with the addition that I'm really, really attracted by HL2's visual style.
I think it's a great mix between the familiar and the excitingly new.
Well, that's an example of what I was referring to; Valve had a reason to keep stumm about TF2: HL2.
Personally, I think it's great that they have been silent on TF2 over the last couple of years, just as they have been on HL2's development prior to April this year.
Let them come out of hiding...
I just flicked through the last five issues of Edge magazine and I didn't find a (p)review of CS:CZ.
You have to keep in mind though that unlike competing magazines and websites, it effectively uses the whole 1-10 range for their scores.
This means that a 6/10 from them would be more positive...
I don't understand the excitement about these pictures, I mean:
- the first one is so fuzzy you can hardly make any statements about "improved lighting", if there is any I don't see it anyway.
- the second shot is a frame from the E3 video that we've all seen a million times by now.

Let the hobgoblins bite at my bullet-proof armour, I have a feeling they won't enjoy the taste of their own sordid blood and broken teeth.
I am the X-Assassinator!
IMO it's about time the board gets over its FragMaster obsession and this thread isn't helping much.
So the guy isn't in the position to substantiate his claims; treat them as the next rumour and we'll know soon enough if there's any truth to them or not - that's all there should be to it.
It also depends on the game, I never cared much about FSAA until I played Tron 2.0 - I use 4x FSAA even at 1280x960 resolution.
Tron 2.0 is a bit special though, due to the typical visual design it contains lots and lots of straight lines and that's why FSAA makes such a difference.

Duke Nukem Forever is the game I've been looking out for most intensely and over the longest period.
As for games that actually were released, I'd have to say Jedi Knight.
Dark Forces got me into PC (FPS) gaming and after I'd read a magazine preview in February '97 I really went bonkers over...
Downloading the game through Steam is pretty hard without an internet connection.
The more I look at it, the more I realise that Valve's statement is completely ambiguous, which means that the petition is assuming the worst case scenario until further clarification (not that this totally...
A bad one at that.
Chris_D is right, your judgmental and flamy attitude is part of the problem and fighting fire with fire isn't going to solve anything.
If this is true and remains unchanged, then Valve will catch a *lot* of flak and rightly so.
Apart from the ridiculous practical consequence of not being able to play a singleplayer product because of a (temporary or otherwise) lack of internet connection, I feel it's principally wrong to...
