Not in the sense you are thinking of it. CS:S IS HL2 Multiplayer. The CS:S that is out now is considered to be the 1.0 version of the game.
However, as with any game, there will be updates to CS:S. Hope this clears things up.
Most of the time, when you run 4 sticks of ram in a system, you ahve to turn the timings down in order for the system to run stable. But this is slowly changing as newer systems come out. The other issue is, if you have 2 sticks of ram instead, assuming they would be 1GB each, they can't run...
1GB should be plenty for all games. Buying from Alienware is perfectly fine for people like you who do not want to build their own systems. Personally though, I'd get an X800 XT PE, but both video cards will play all games perfectly fine. Have fun with your new system :)
OK, you got me thinking that my system might be running CS:S slower than it should be. It was. I have vsync enabled and it causes that huge of a drop. But I get a very ugly stutter/tear without it and the game is perfectly playable with it on. Just to give you some numbers.

hmmm, I am positive that my system is running at optimal performance. I don't have spyware, I have no viruses, I am running the cat4.9's and I get 6181 in 3Dmark05 when I overclock my video card to 545/583. This also gets me 60-100 fps in CS:S. Remember, I am running with 4xAA and 16xAF...

3. You actually have to have a copy of the game
4. At some point, you must pull yourself away from hl2.net
5. Need to stop looking at pr0n (I hear a collective gasp)
6. You'll need BOTH hands to play the game :D
