I know we all hate vivendi, because they're the man and they're keeping us down.
But even Doug Lombardi said that they "hope to send the final version to VUG soon". Obviously, VUG found some things wrong with half-life 2. Maybe some of it is nitpicky, or maybe they found serious flaws...
Personally, I was expecting the bronze version to be at most $39.95. So this is pretty dissappointing.
But there ARE distribution costs. Steam's bandwidth is costing valve tons of money, especially since everyone and their sister is preloading hl2, whether they are buying via steam or not.
I wasn't surprised at all. I said they'd release a CounterStrike: Source (but i called it CounterStrike: Classic, to keep with the TFC namescheme) back in January, probably before they even started working on it.
Hell, maybe they started CS: Source because of my post (ok, probably not)...
Yeah, guys, forget about the 90% for just a second. It's all relative.
What SHOULD concern you is:
Half-Life 2: 90% Far Cry: 91%
Just like PC Gamer US scores:
Doom 3: 93% Far Cry: 94%
I was a doom 3 fanboy, just like all of you half life fan boys. When I saw that review score...
i was just guessing, no wishing going on. (I'm still gonna buy it retail). But you're probably right, that's a lot of stuff in the gold copy. But I bet they can't possibly charge more than the retail special edition version, so maybe up that to $79.95. If gamers see steam gold vs retail...
You people talk like TF2's a for sure thing?!? Pfft. TF2 will come out when pigs fly.
And yes, Counterstrike was cool for like 6 months 4 years ago. But since then, we've gotten games like RtCW/ET, America's Army, Battlefield: XXX, CoD: UO, you know, games with a point.
It sure would...
Well, at least at this point, it just about out of valve's hands. We need a new "Info from Vivendi" thread, cause we're gonna need to bombard them with "Are you gonna release it yet? " emails.
Vivendi has pulled this "wait for 6 months" trick 3 times already (that we know of). Why not one time more?
After HL2 getting pushed back so many times, how can any of you get your hopes up before actually holding the game in your hands? (and even then, you'd probably open the box to find...
I'm sure that the hardcore gaming community makes up like .1% of the future hl2 sales. Most of the sales for hl2 will come from normal average joes who are walking through walmart and see it. If they delay, sales may be slower at first, but eventually, i bet they'd make about the same amount...
True, but it's very worriesome. This little piece of news explains the six months inbetween CS:CZ going gold and being released on store shelves. Vivendi really did just sit on it for six months. I don't know WHY they would do this, but they bloody well likely could do it with Half-Life 2...
