Exactly. Why would they invest so much time revamping their old game when the sequel is obviously the main attraction? We're lucky they did something like this at all (can you think of any developers who upgraded past games in a series to go along with their new engine to a significant degree?).

I don't know much about this stuff, but if Far Cry is any indicator (similar texture quality and DX9 features) I'd guess about 2-3GB total? That's when it's on the hard drive in Valve/Half-Life 2 folder and what not. So to answer your question, about 1-2GB left perhaps?

I'd like to buy into the rumors flying around that it'll go gold soon, but I just can't put faith in them. A showstopping bug could change everything. But I certainly hope it isn't pushed that far back (Nov). I don't think it will. I'll be optimistic and say it'll be announced gold soon after...

I know these files are encrypted, but is it possible for someone to hack them by using the leaked alpha executable (or using that as a launchpad for them)? I'm not condoning this at all, but was curious if it was possible. I'd imagine Valve has real good encryption techniques, but my faith in...

Never said I went to the office on the 30th...just that I went there around the same time as now last year. Late Aug/Early Sep. May have been mid September. And yes, he did pawn me. I gave the forums quite a buzz and in turn gave Valve free publicity.
