There are massive threads about this elsewhere...but I cleared the problem when I upgraded my graphics card (from a 64mb intel/intergrated card to 256mb GeForce FX something or other).
I posted this in another forum too: has anyone noticed that in the picture the hand holding the stunstick is Gordon's? Do you think we could get some official player models too?
That would be nice.
has no one else noticed that the hand holding the stunstick in that little picture is wearing Gordon's suit?
It'd be nice to have some more player models from an official source.
It's a nice map. I've playing on it for an hour or two. I wish it was a little bigger, but it does have some nice touches (I like the ability to sniper the watchtower from the pipes on the side of the river, and I like the fact that lots of bodies get blown thirty-foot into the air and land in...
This is one of my favourite screen shots.
On second thoughts, after I posted it, it looks a bit crappy. It looks much better on my desktop.
blurp.

All I'm trying to say, is I don't think there is a huge, grand meaning in G-Mans' name, like many people suppose. I just think that five years ago, when the original game came out, they named him in a referential way to add meaning/symbolism to the whole dark-matter, atomic, Half-Life story...
With all of the physics going on throughout both HL games, I kinda assumed that G-man was just a small homage to Murray Gell-Mann. He was a Caltech Physicist whose famous theory was to do with 'hadrons' and other incredibly-difficult-to-undersand-atomic-physics-kinda-stuff.
Gell-Mann...
Sorry, but I don't think a nine-year-old should be playing HL2. It doesn't matter how well he's brought-up, the game is still an odd mixture of fiction and reality. It looks photo-realistic places, and the violence is strong. Nine-year-olds are dumb, and I see little benefit to any social/moral...
Bummer eh?
Well, at least you know it's Valve at not you or I. I'm sure it'll get sorted. I'll report my problem to Valve, and you should do the same. Let me know if you find any solutions elsewhere.
Cheers,
Dave
Like the title suggests, HL2 is a no-no-a-go-go. I get this message when it loads up:
Failed to load the launcher DLL:
The specified procedure could not be found.
Any suggestions? I'm clueless.
Incidentally, DM works.
I'm just glad, that in this day of real-world physics, XIB-Billion-Uber-Ram graphics cards and trillion ghz machines...so many people STILL love Monkey Island.
The latest Monkey Island game was so lame I almost crapped myself with horror. It was only when I saw how nice the views in HL2 were whilst riding the coastal roads that I thought...hey, you could make a really pretty looking mod here. Rockpools by night. Palmtrees. Rock that is realistic...
