Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: this whole "cheating" thing....
that sounds like a serious amount of BS, if you had bothered to actually READ the review the results were duplicated not once but twice. with an open request to ATI to back themselves up...which they never did. so how is it you...
Re: Re: Re: Re: this whole "cheating" thing....
i understand nvidia "cheated" in fact if i memory serves i also mentioned that in the original post, that is not the issue. the issue is all the ATI fanboys on thier highhorse saying "we woul'nt buy nvidia they cheat" while they hypocritically...
Re: Re: Re: Re: this whole "cheating" thing....
old enough to sift through BS and know you really did not address the issue ;)
the quake3 thing was just over 2 years ago the 3dmark03 issue was 3 months ago, it is a very logical assumption to make that they had been "cheating" the whole...
just as i thought, a non-answer.
...while your at it perhaps you can enlighten me as to why i get the same results on many unreal1 based games.
here is another question:
how come no game company has ever had to release a patch just to get a nvidia card to work?
Re: Re: this whole "cheating" thing....
so when ATI changes copyrighted code it is an "optimization" but when nvidia changes copyrighted code it is "cheating" ROFL!!!
here is the million dollar question, futuremark called what ATI did "cheating" how come you cant? all i see is weak...
then maybe you can explain why codecreatures runs great in 1600X1200 on all the nvidia cards where i work but the 9800 pro will not run it.
while your at it perhaps you can enlighten me as to why i get the same results on many unreal1 based games.
after reading that first sentence why should i take you seriously? are you afraid of being proved wrong by FACTS and simply agree with what "most other people think"?
how sad.
i am an open minded person who forms an opinion AFTER taking in all the facts i can gather, mostly by firsthand...

note that these are reputable sites
how many more would you like?
can you give me links to where the 9800 pro beats the 5900 in the majority of games tested? can you explain...
actually what many people do not remember is way back when intel was building it's rep, AMD was making chips for them! :D
the reason dell uses strictly intel is that intel gives them a price break for NOT building with AMD, on the other hand whenever michal dell wants cheaper CPU's he starts...
it seems ATI has adopted the tactics of some of it's fanboys, that is when you lose , whine and cry and submit no proof.
as for myself, i will see if i can duplicate the results hardOCP got since i have acess to the same brand 5900U and 9800pro. as a little addition i must say i am impressed...
personally, i thought this was old news, but since so many ATI fanboys seem to have a condition called "selective amnesia" here is your reminder, and for those that take the "moral high road" and say they would "NEVER" buy a card from a company that "cheats on benchmarks", you may now STFU and...
i think you hit the nail on the head with that one. where i work(a custom computer store specializing in performance) our discount is not much over cost, the 256meg 9800 pro our cost is roughly the same(within $20) as the 5900U. there is no choice for me after directly comparing the 2 cards...
i have a xp2500(1.8GhZ) running rock solid stable @ 2.2 which basically makes it a xp3000, for 90 bucks for the CPU and 20 bucks for a nice all copper heatsink i can give intel's best that costs around 5-6 times as much a run for it's money, with the money i saved i can buy a 5900 ultra AND...
and i work at a computer store and have ran the 9800pro and the 5900 ultra in the same computer, and the 9800 pro got it's ass kicked...end of story. the 5900 even kicked butt in a slightly slower comp side by side with the comp with the 9800 in it.
as far as what i "sound like", you should...
actually i don't, since i have a job that allows i have seen the peformance difference first hand, the 9800 gets it butt handed to it by the 5900...even in a slightly slower computer. and in the same machine.
as far as reviews go i have seen many from reputable sites such as andandtech and...
maybe in lala-land-dreamworld...but not in reality...
maybe one day ATI will be able to make a stable card. until then they are just nvidia wannabes that make trash that wont even run many games without a special patch just for the ATI.
BTW does anyone know how to make the 9800 pro run...
i disagree, many people already know the 5900 is better. at least nvidia cards dont crash my games all the time because of crap drivers! ARRRG!!!!
at least that is a factor i consider....as for other people, let them be blissfuly ignorant.
:)
Re: Re: Re: ATi v nVidia
ROFL!!! you want "proof" that optimizations written for games also improve thier benchmarks?
try thinking about it a bit... lets say for example the "br549" driver has optimizations that improve performance over the previous driver in a certain game, and the...
in which game? IQ settings are adjustable in the properties menu. i have seen sites that display screenshots magnified 10-40 times expounding on how much better the ATI looks, but if you have to magnify something that much to see the difference, does it really mean anything? i am not talking...
