they're the worse gameplay levels in it. There just in the demo to show off the engine. You have to admit that the demo looked nice. As a game it gets better and better
As i'm getting short of games to play to fill the time before HL2 any suggestions.
Personally I recommend 'CHASER'. Damn fine game, not awesome but solid and very vvery long. Pretty good engine (not quite HL2 or Doom3) and varied levels. Ingore the demo though, it sucks and doesn't do the...
i love the multiplayer, simple, fast and unspoilt so far. Not enough maps though.
I SAY BUY 'CHASER' TO FILL YOUR HOURS BEFORE HL2.
Two of us agree. By the way ignore the demo, it sucks.
hey i gotta 9800 now i'm no Nvidia user in deline, my point was that i thought it was funny that ATI was involved 5 years ago too with the rage128. Incidentally my friend had a TNT2 at the time that rocked compared to the ATI Rage128.
pc's shine because they have mice and keyboards. Also arn't you forgetting that HL is a great single player game. Multi player is great but you can't beat the suspense and anticipation of a single player for the first time. In multiplayer its the same old maps over and over shooting the same...
His mobo sounds old though, if he stick another p4 in it he'll be limited to what he can get that'll work. No point sweeping problems under the carpet, invest in a new mobo and CPU. His AGP slot is probably not up to todays standards either. The mobo is the important part of your machine it...
Hey look on the back of your HL1 cd case. Mine has the old ATI Rage 128 logo on it. Even back then Value liked ATI. I had a Rage 128 at the time HL came out, talk about choppy framerate. The end battle was just a slideshow
how much you spending on the GFX card? That card you listed is the best you can get, I didn't note wether its the 256 or 128, eithers more than fine.
The 9600pro is just a 9800 with 4 pipelines and not 8. Has just about the same DX9 capabilities. The best 9600pro is the Tyan model
Just...
I've never heard such snobery before. I own a PC, Mac, PS2 and an Xbox. They're all great and I enjoy different things on each of them. Halo was a great game, fair enough it has aged but look at CS anf HL1. Playability is what counts, I still play Track and Field under emulation, its graphics...
my rigs running a XP2400 at XP2600 speeds quite nicely. Cause of the FSB speed of that chip my Mobo won't make it go any faster but I'm sure it would do it happily enough. Athlons are famous for their overclocking potential
ATI cards now need alot of juice to run. Sounds like your 350 watts PSU is not enough. I bet you've got quite a few other things connected to the mobo draining power. In this day and age you really need 400 -450w min
Ditch the Pentiums, there just expensive in power terms. An Asus A7N8X Deluxe with an XP 2600+ would be powerful enough and also allow enough savings to put towards a great gfx card like a 9800np. The Asus board also has great 5.1 sound (soundstorm chip from Xbox), Raid Nforce2 and Firewire. Bargain
and what im looking at:
--
a P4 with 800 fsb (maybe a 2.4, please list a good and cheap mobo)
a Radeon 9600 pro ( willing to spend 30 more bucks on the 256 version)
512 stick of RAM
If your lokking to budget then forget Pentiums, nothing against them it's just that they're expensive. An...
I gotta sapphire 9800np running a pro speeds. Blinding card. HL2 will play like it does in all the videos. It's gotta be a 9800, that extra money will pay for itself later down the line.
my god another PC user who has actually used a Mac for real and realises the truth without sticking their head in the sand. HL2 on a G5 would silence every word in this forum about performance. Ain't gonna happen though, so unfortunately I have to use this PC
Its a bit like all these Nvidia...
