I never had a problem (other than very very slight stutter which was fixed). Steam worked perfectly for me and from time of order to time I was playing was within 10-15 minutes.
And ditto with Mullinator...I have had less problems with HL2 than the majority of games I have ever bought.
Geez, didn't even think of that. Very good point...I will try that tomorrow.
Twas a fresh format/install directly after installing the ram (in prep for HL2). And from that point on I have experienced these freezes (although never in any game, or surfing the web or anything other than doing...
Hey all..
Recently added 512 Pc3200 Mushkin Ram (the week before HL2 came out). I have never had a single problem before adding the ram.
Since then I have had a "feezing" problem off and on while doing multiple things. Sometimes it "unfreezes" and continues what it was doing, and sometimes...
1. Single player-The main reason
2. CS:Source-not at all
3. Graphics/Physics-adds to the game, but I would have bought it even if these were average.
4. Playing user-made mods (Including maps and gametypes)-not a huge reason, but am looking forward to seeing what people will do.
5. Creating...
Have to be honest and say I expected a bit more.
It's a great game, but I thought it would be better based on what we have seen and been told for the last year and a half.
I think all the binks and statements about what "Source" would do, and what the AI would do, and what would be in the...
37 here and I don't remember the first games I played; old age deleting days gone past ;)
But I started with the Commodore 64 (also had the 128 version), then to the Amiga 500 (what an underrated system), and from there to a super fast 486/25 sx.
Seemed to be about the same amount of loads, but a bit longer than HL1 (on my computer anyway).
But geez, I kinda like the loads...gives me a chance to stretch...take a drink...etc. Didn't find them distracting in the least.
Although I wish no one had to feel sick, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I get motion sick from pretty much everything. Hate the water and can't go on any rides at amusement parks...blech.
Think the worst game ever for me was the original Doom for some reason, but the Boat and Buggy...
Ugg I feel your pain (and just about in the same place of the game).
Have to keep stopping because of motion sickness. That damn boat was the worst....
Good to see what's working, or not working...so I'll add mine. Works 100% perfect with:
Steam Installed version
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (newest Mobo drivers)
Athlon Xp 3200+ (not oc'ed)
1 gig Mushkin (2x512 dual channel) (not oc'ed)
Radeon 9500 pro (Oc'ed 370/310) (Catalyst 4.11)

I was originally going to get the boxed version for the box, manual, and cd case, and just the fact of having something solid in hand.
But now: no manual, no cd case (just those paper sleeves) and the hassle of going to the store. And, it's now easy enough to make a backup copy.
Add in...
Personally I think because Alyx and Barney are main parts of HL2 and Adrian most likely isn't even in it, it would be more interesting to use Shepherd in something new before any other character.
Nice...thank you.
Didn't they say this article is considerably longer than the final days one when HL1 was released? Can't remember if I saw that here or elsewhere or not...
