I did above 13. When I ran the installer, all the converstions failed. Could this be the problem? Or heck, maybe it needs my HL CDKEY and it didn't get what it wanted...
Sigh, I am getting a bit worried. I spent all of yesterday and last night downloading HL and DOD. When I tried playing (the completely downloaded) DOD, I got the No children registered error message.
What am I to do? This is getting a bit tiresome. I might just give up and wait a week or two...
Guys, OGC cannot be trusted. They are the source of 50% or more hacks available in the Half-Life community. It is them that cause us so much trouble, and they do not deserve an ounce of respect.
Geeze I wish this was over. I cant even start dod, even though it shows it is supposedly done downloading. It goes to the screen "Preparing to launch..." and stops there, even after 20 minutes.

This is to answer a question I see many many topics asking. Why is steam freezing in menues for periods of time, and why is it downloading so...
Nope, 99% chance you still don't have all the game files. Even though you see the game files the proper size, that is because those .gcf files are cache files set up by your computer, as a place holder. As the material is downloaded through steam it is slowly written over the space reserved by...
Ward, the reinstallations were unnecessary. You see, currently over 100,000+ people are trying to download all the content, like DoD, CS, etc. This is crushing the content servers, and slowing them down to a near halt. Nine times out of ten, your connection simply times out while trying to log...
