They're never going to release anything like Lost Coast on a Friday, because they'll be out of the office on the weekend and if the release goes wrong (like there's a bad bug not picked up during testing) they won't be able to do anything about it until Monday morning.
When a prediction error occurs, if cl_smooth is 0, it pops straight from the incorrect predicted position to the real one, if cl_smooth is 1, it smooths the transition.
A drop in water levels by a couple of meters across the whole surface of the planet represents a hell of a lot of water being lost.
My calculations indicate roughly 715682522815994 metres cubed.
Raising the Bar says something about giant portal drains.
I'd imagine water would be a fairly valuable commodity, seeing as how the hydrogen can be used in fusion to produce energy.
Yeh, offline mode is for when you don't have a connection, in the end, if you have an always-on connection, like ADSL, it doesn't actually matter if Steam is online or not.
1. Bargin with the aliens is the most likely explanation.
2. Probably not human infantry. Not to mention the human military resistance had been weakened by the portal storms. Also, the Citadels teleported into the middle of cities. Traditionally, it's a bad military tactic to nuke your own cities.
It's in Raising the Bar, a game called Prospero, apparently going to be massively multiplayer, with a "complicated mix of Valve and user-created content". Apparently, Friends was an idea that started with Prospero and found its way into Steam.
You can embed custom content into the map files, and I *think* that overrides content anywhere else, including the GCFs, so there's no reason a single map couldn't have custom models, I guess.
"citadel.al_whahappen" "<clr:255,212,255>Gordon. What happened to the gravity gun? It must be drawing power from the Citadel. "
Just to back up my earlier otherwise unsubstantiated claim.
Hey, this one is interesting:
"citadel.br_mock02" "<clr:188,188,188><I>I'm relying on you to fail again...
It is all in the things you could miss if you weren't paying attention, like how the water level is obviously far, far too low, with all the beached boats, piers far above the waterline, etc.
Yeh, Source is very much an un-static thing. It's my personal bet that all Valve games from now on are going to run on the same version of Source. So when HL3 rolls around, for example, those updates will be applied to HL2, CS:S, etc.
If you have a look at one of the files that does subtitles, you can see a line from Alyx that was apparently cut, something along the lines of "It looks like the gravity gun is drawing power from the Citadel".
So when you move a long way from the Citadel, or the Citadel becomes unable to...
Install the game from CD, then try getting the Steam installer from www.steampowered.com, and installing it over the top of the Steam installation already on your computer, but in English.
Should do the trick.
Well, the prevailing theory is that the G-Man is actually some kind of alien, so his appearance is some kind of assumed form. Maybe he was inspired by Oppenheimer.
Random OT pondering... the Vortiguants say "We serve the same mystery" - presumably the G-Man. Do you think the Vortiguants...
