I've actually been hearing about such viruses being created. Can't say much more then that because viruses, in any form and no matter how noble the cause may seem, are ILLEGAL and can get you into big, big trouble.
It's my belief that if any beta is released to the public, it WILL contain viruses. I would stray entirely away from that sort of thing. I've been hearing about people putting viruses even into the Source code, so I will stay away from that too. It's really not worth it, considering there's...
For me, all I want is a good storyline. I don't give a damn about technological achievements, that's for developers and reviews to rave about. Just as long as the gameplay is GOOD, I'll play. If the game came out a year from today, I would STILL buy it, and so would hundreds of thousands of...
Uh, I'm sure you MUST know this t0y guy if you gave him some server space. I can see you're trying to cover up your tracks, but a lot of people won't buy it.
Well, for one, Valve misses out on licensing their Source engine, because it seems like everyone interested would probably have the leaked code by now (unless they're a large company, then of course they're going to license the engine; most companies are fairly honest). There's also the bigger...
Yes, unfortunatly when companies take a more informal approach toward their fans, stuff like this can happen. :( Hopefully Valve doesn't turn into a corporate giant like Blizzard, and practically ignore their fans. Valve is great because they don't mind e-mails from fans or even fans randomly...
Interesting post, and most of it is true.
Also, does anyone else see the irony is naming the HL2 engine the "Source" engine? They might as well call it the "Open Source" engine from now on. :/
Note that TF2 might NOT be included with HL2. There is no way to tell if the TF2 code that was released was meant for HL2 or for a future product. HL2 might have its own multiplayer.
I'm hoping Valve doesn't get sued for this source code leak, as it contains a lot of private information...
I love how everyone automatically thinks Nvidia is satan in coporation form. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but Nvidia isn't out to get Valve. They just want to make money.
The thread he linked to there explained that it was possible (and still might be) to register Steam using VALVE employee e-mail address. Erik Johnson knew about this (I mentioned it to him), but apparently Chris did not. This information was not meant for the world to see, and I hope it didn't...
The XT cards sound cool because if what I've been reading is true (from various hardware sites), they overclock themselves and have a badass cooling system. :)
