So it's like a platformer type of thing in that there's an actual game with levels? What about simply sparring against AI opponents? That's what I was looking forward to, and I will be a little disappointed if something like that isn't in the game.
I don't understand why people keep criticizing it as "bulky". You can collapse the window down to something no larger than the current "My Games" menu.
I like it. It seems sleeker and better laid out, and the new look I find attractive. I'm also happy that the only games that show up in the "My Games" window are games that I actually own.
Overall, a welcome change.
Your framerates are cut in half on a 6600GT? That's news to me as I have a 6600GT (AGP even), and I'm getting excellent framerates comparable to what I get in Half-Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source.
Valve did a nice job as always. I had no problems with unlocking the game or joining servers (technically speaking, anyway; it's rather difficult to find open slots at the moment).
I have to say, I'm already hooked no HDR. It makes the game look so natural and realistic! After playing DoD:S...
It certainly looks intriguing, and the price is right. It's time for gamers to put their money where their mouth is and reward innovative and original games that don't pander to the lowest common denominator.
Seems very buggy at this stage (what else would you expect from version 0.14?), but it's still great fun. I really like the feel of the game. Nothing quite like frantically reloading your single-shot musket while an enemy soldier is charging your way!
I'm going to be keeping my eye on this one.
Yeah, there are some minor variations, but it's nothing drastic, in my opinion. In fact, it plays a hell of a lot like UT2004's "assault" mode which itself was pretty straight forward. I suppose folks see words like "cyberspace" and start over thinking which can lead to confusion.
I doubt it will be the PC version of Half-Life 2 in an arcade machine. Most likely it will be a game called "Half-Life 2" that will bear a passing resemblence to the PC version but will be more suited for the arcade environment.
