the model looks good. though a little to detail for just a prop. The lower the Poly Count the better since you want to save processor power for more important things, i.e. the weopon/hand model. you could probably cut that PC in half with some good optimizing and some sacrificing of detail...
looks good though a couple of things. Is this for in game? the poly's looks hefty. the barrell has way to many sides it appears. the grip is a little blocky. the scope looks pretty good but a closer pic would be nice. the magazine release is not accurate but that could be the angle again...
not too familiar with lightwave but, i'm sure the process is the same as 3ds. Grab as many ref photos as you can find. from as many different angles so yo can get proportions down. then lay out a side view ref on a plane in lighwave and go from there. Most people start out box modeling...
aye, great model mate. Always good to see your work. Drives me nuts how you get low poly counts out of such highly detailed models. Can't wait to see more from you.
Probably not true HD
Half Life2 is formatted for both 4:3 apesct ratio and 16:9 apsect ratio. Though it is not a true HD signal when sent to a HDTV. Much like the claim Xbox uses saying their games are HD when connected to a HD set thru componet (Pr Pb Y) cables. The signal at best would be...
i got some for you ichi it's a side and front of a friend of mine. i took them with a Sony 4 MP digital camera so they are high res. PM me with an E-mail address to send them to
well said, well said. it's true with all modeling programs require that you start with basics, learning how to create and manipulate primitives. and then move on to more advanced aspects. Modeling may not be high art, but it's definatley a very difficult thing to start out and most people...
heh, spit coke out of my nose when i read that. IchI thats a dead sexy model you've got there. I know what you mean about baggy pants. BDU's have almost no shape to them like freaking hammer pants (showing my age there) personally i think it's fantastic and can not wait to see him...
lol, well i definatley see his point. personally i like to give advice and help to people but it does get a little aggravating when someone asks a question that anyone who paid 3000+ (max specific) for their software should know already. So it's more likely that if they are asking complete nub...
to expand on simons comment:
boolenas hve a tendacy to distort the mesh and make UVW unwrapping (which is already the hardest part of te project) damn near impossible it tens to create a lot of un seen faces and vertices that you don't even see because theyre packed on top of one another...
ahh thanks for the pics ichi though i am still unsure of of how to go about area where clothes overlap. Anyone got any more ideas that they could share
not sure if this will be of help to other mods:
This is the specs of the most popular computers being sold on the market today and within say the last six months. This will give mod teams an idea of what the largest target audience machine specs are. These are from the top most sold HP...
there isn't a hard number on the PC count for third person. Basically i'm using kinda the same formula for hl2 as for hl1 if in hl2 2500 is hte magic number then for third i'm doing a % of that, roughly 1000. this way you'll keep the mid end machines from comletely crapping out.
Ok so having grown wary of relegating myself to just weapon models i want to attempt a player model. I've got the basics down (ref pics, etc...) i'm just wondering how most people would handle the following issues
1. Clothes- I would say specifically wrinkles and area where clothes overlap...
Good list i must say. Congrats LGW and Op: CO-In.. *cough* cwmp *cough* i really hope all the mods on the list make it. It's gonna be incredible that for $50 your gonna get a least a Dozen "unique" games. Amazing.
ohh an screw moddb and everything it stands for...fascists...
yup the trigger was done last second and with full knowledge that it won't be seen so why waste the poly's. Thanks for the postitive feedback guys. The 1800 polys is without and backfacing done so hoprfully i'll be a able to drop it 400-500 poly's when fully optimized. and leave myself some...
very sexy, Excellent job on the smoothing of the handles. I cringe everytime i see something with a similar handle setup to the p90. As SideX said it's one hell of a clean mesh. Can't wait to see it skinned.
