Sorry dude, no internet = no Steam + no HL2. Offline mode will only work for a short while (about 2 weeks I believe) before Steam (and it's creators in their infinite wisdom, and American-like way of taking away your choices) will force you to try to connect to the net to at least check for...
LOL- you must work for Microsoft- instead of solving a problem, get rid of the thing causing it and act like it never happened. LOL. J/K
Synthos- I like the sound of that. I went to the control panel (classic view) and went into the mouse folder. No device properties > power management tab...
Power Supply Unit
Seriously, it sounds like you might want to leave the messing around inside a PC untill you have a bit more knowlegde of PC's / years of age. Just a suggestion.
Not bad, don't know about the price (I'm gussing it is in US dollars?) so I won't comment on it. You will need a spare plug coming from your PSU to plug into that card. I hope you have one!
Good call- I hadn't even thought of a mouse firmware / driver update- do they really need updating? Can you update a mouses firmware?
EDIT- Here is a pic so you can sort of see what I'm faced with. Even if I cover it at night, I still know it is there.... glowing.... waiting...
It bugs the...
Synthos- no, it doesn't, with the PC either on or off. I haven't heard of a mouse that does that! Although it would make sense to make them like that. I'm guessing that you were going to suggest that I turn the mouse upside down when I turn off the PC? Good idea, but I really want to solve this...
Synthos- yep, the mouse is working as it should when the PC is on. Also:
I want so solve this issue, not ignore it. If you can't / don't want to help solve it people, that's fine, just please don't keep suggesting ways to ignore the problem.
And thank-you to those who are trying- keep those...
As I already posted-
Why don't you guys get it that I'm looking for more than "switch it off at PSU / wall"? I'm trying to keep my replies polite, but rejecting the same 2 stupid solutions in slightly different forms over and over again is getting annoying. A 5 year old could suggest turning...
OK. Unplugging anything, or switching to USB is not an option. I know there are other ways to do this, because I have heard of some mobo's that have jumpers to do it, and others that have BIOS settings to do it, and I have heard of, but not been able to find, a way to do it in windows. I don't...
Reaktor, don't be sad that your post was no use to me before you even posted it. I was clearly asking for help from people with more computer knowledge than "flip switch at wall to make PC off." How about you just don't worry about this thread, and go back to your 9.5 inches.
I'm just nicely...
I got that. He had made a funny typo if you look at my post- 1774. That's what I was LOLing at.
Tool- no need to apologize for the occasional typo. Just don't let it happen again!
LOL
I totally support abortion, and agree with you, but-
That would make them more like 220 years old. Your name is strangly ironic!
LOL. J/K.
NVM. You fixed it.
Thanks for the idea, but I already have overloaded my power socket with an 8-way adaptor- printers, scanner, external HD, speakers, etc...!
The mouse is a usb one, with a usb - ps/2 adaptor on it. Even if I did rig something to add an eternally powered usb hub, apart from the need to still...
USB doesn't solve it.
I have MS. I have trouble sleeping at the best of times, and to make it worse sometimes I get a sensitivity to light. I have tried covering it with clothes etc, but it still bugs me knowing it is still on anyway. I have a lot of time on my hands as I cannot be employed in...
One way is to reset / clear all cookies, then set cookies to "ask every time", then go to some sites you go to often and click "deny" to any cookies except ones specifically from the site you are visiting. Then change the cookie setting back to "untill they expire". Or just tick the "from...
Actually, it is that big of a problem for me- medical reasons etc- and I like to have control over my PC, not the other way around. It seems like an obvious thing to be able to do, (having the power cut to it when the PC is off), and even more to the point- it seems so un-necessary to have it...
Yeah there is such a thing. The option to "power up on mouse double left click" is right there in my BIOS, along with "power up on (choose from assorted list of keyboard presses)." All of these options are disabled.
The mouse is just some basic gigabyte see-through mouse, as I said, (no serial...
