I used this guide, which is mostly cosmetic and UI stuff, but there are some gameplay ones in there too. The big game-changing ones I'm using now are Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items and Oblivion XP. Oblivion XP in particular is awesome, as it gets rid of the TES leveling system for the...
It is definitely not a new engine, just a refreshed Gamebryo. But, Skyrim on Ultra (which runs great on my 5870) definitely graphically looks a generation better than vanilla Oblivion, and even noticeably better than a completely souped up Oblivion (I'm using pretty much all the well-known...
Given 18 months' time in the hands of the modding community, I guarantee Skyrim will be the ultimate timesink. As it is, after 45 minutes of play....I'm going back to my freshly installed (and f**ked up and reinstalled, and f**ked up again, and reinstalled, damn you Wrye Bash and Deadly Reflex...
I ordered the guide from Amazon last week (when it popped back in stock) on the recommendations of some on the gamefaqs ps3 board, and it arrived today. Only flipped through it for a few minutes, but it is ****ing awesome. A ~380 page hardbound book, chock full of charts, maps, screenshots and...
And just like that, after some low-grade raging and time away from the ps3, I came back with a renewed patience and finished off blighttown and the boss handily. That is the brilliance of *.Souls. 20 hours in and having a blast.
Looks awesome, can't wait for the 13th.
Lol @ Krynn's vid, only 35 seconds in, assumed CoD kiddie complaining about long respawn time. My kind of game.
His knees and knuckles sympathetically fill with fluid if he crouches and hacks simultaneously. Or something. There's a joke about ergonomics in there somewhere.
I just alt-tabbed out of the game after walking around the second hub for about 10 minutes. Eidos did an amazing job; abundant...
Best game I've played since S.T.A.L.K.E.R., before that System Shock 2, before that Deus Ex.
I'm pretty much an asshole elitist that is not impressed by much, and I am loving every minute of this game so far.
10 hours in so far according to Steam, doing some exploring and all side missions I...
dammit i want so badly to play omikron, but apparently my ati hd5xxx (and hd ati cards in general) lacks support for 16-bit z-buffer...so i can only manage this:
and there's no fix, aside from changing video cards, according to the interwebbings.
technology!
out of curiosity, can anyone remember a console launch that didn't have shitty launch titles? the only one that comes to mind was the SNES (Super Mario World, Pilotwings, F-Zero) and maybe the N64 (for Mario 64, which was life-changing back in 1996).
my point was more that most reviews nowadays seem to have this copy and pasted into them: "the single player portion will only run you about six to eight hours, but there are over X vials of cat urine hidden throughout, extending the game time for collectors."
i guess i consider this cheap...
i just went to the gaming trend site. there's two minutes i'll never get back. it reads like the website of the computer and tabletop gaming club at your local community college.
also, has gaming design really gotten SO ****ING COMPLACENT AND LAZY that every single game now has to include...
