First, I don't think it would lead to a loss of sales; I wouldn't buy the music if I didn't pirate it in the first place. I do so out of lack of money. Also, I'm pretty sure companies aren't going to declare bankruptcy due to piracy--It might hurt the company a bit, but not that much.

I wouldn't purchase music if I didn't download music though. No major harm done to the companies.
